Tasks- Collect, analyze and interpret information from peer-reviewed scientific journals and publicly accessible databases with biomedical content to enhance data processing strategies.
- Collaborate in gathering and processing clinical data, specifically focusing on histopathology images such as Whole Slide Images (WSI), complemented by high-throughput sequencing data.
- Develop and maintain data quality check pipelines. Harmonize data from various sources ensuring consistency and accuracy.
- Maintain a comprehensive database to support advanced data mining activities, ensuring data integrity and accessibility for the team.
- Harmonize datasets of various origins, including imaging and sequencing data, by applying appropriate statistical and bioinformatics techniques.
- Assist in the preparation of reports and the extraction of data as needed.
- Identify and troubleshoot data-related issues, ensuring data integrity and reliability. Authorize and oversee the implementation of necessary data maintenance or modifications.
- Initiate and take a leading position in data-driven biomedical research projects
- Work closely with bioinformaticians and AI specialists. Convey complex data concepts in English
- Master's degree or PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or a similar field
- Proficient in scientific programming languages Python, R & Shell script as well as frameworks to analyze biomedical images. (PyTorch, OpenCV)
- Knowledge of database architecture and development is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of pipeline/workflow languages is a plus. (Nextflow)
- Experience in High Performance Computing environments such as SLURM, LSF and PBS.
- Have a keen understanding of the sources and implications of bias in data.
- Strong analytical skills, especially in statistics
- Proficiency in handling biomedical data, especially imaging data, knowledge on array- and sequence data is a plus.
- Very good English communication skills, German is a plus
