Position Description
Valiant is looking for a full-time Strategic Planner with a proven record and extensive industry knowledge, to apply their strategic, tactical, and technical expertise in support of a Department of Defense (DoD) customer. Develop strategies and plans to effectively improve Joint Force performance and readiness. This position will interface with our client, European Command (USEUCOM). Work may include the development of contingency and campaign plans, theater strategies, and partner engagements to enhance the overall performance of the client’s mission. This is an on-site position (Patch Barracks, Stuttgart, Germany).
Duties:
Research, analyze, and write about security and defense issues and policies in support of a DoD organization that works with structures throughout the USECUOM area of responsibility. Use an expert understanding of joint doctrine, concepts, and assessments to prepare the Joint Force. Evaluate complex systems, processes, and policies and generate recommendations to enhance operational effectiveness. Apply expertise of the challenges with our primary competitor in Europe and Eurasia to support current operations in crises or in campaign. Adroitly complete client taskings, respond to Requests for Information (RFIs), and participate in Operational Planning Teams (OPTs).
Position Requirements
REQUIRED:
8+ years of experience supporting strategic or operational planning as a Strategic Planner at a military staff, including the Joint Staff, Combatant Commands, or Office of the Secretary of Defense 5+ years of experience focused on Eastern Europe and Eurasian competitor issues and challenges 5+ years of experience with planning and executing a Component or Joint Exercise Program Experience with the Joint Operation Planning Process Experience with Department of Defense doctrine, education, concept development and experimentation, training, exercises, and lessons learned Experience in working with security cooperation directly with multinational partners Experience with using Microsoft Office applications, including Microsoft Office 365 Knowledge of instruments of national power, including diplomatic, informational, military, and economic (DIME) Ability to provide written analysis at the General Officer or Flag Officer (GO/FO) level with expectation of multiple redirects while maintaining adaptability Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with senior military and civilian leaders Ability to work across multiple lines of effort under rigid timelines • Ability to project and monitor funding requirements Ability to travel in Europe or to CONUS TS/SCI clearance Bachelor’s degree in International Relations, Foreign Affairs, or National Security PolicyPREFERRED:
Experience living or working in Eastern Europe Experience as a client facing professional performing onsite delivery Knowledge of project management best practices, inputs, tools and techniques, and outputs Master’s degree in International Relations, Foreign Affairs, National Security Policy or related fieldCLEARANCE:
