Sr Test Specialist, R&D Software Quality

Responsible for the engineering of software quality for an 
enterprise level product development team by following the established processes and procedures. As a senior test member of a team responsible for advising the team and other stakeholders on appropriate test strategies, ensuring that tests have desired coverage and reviewing the work of other team members.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Serve as a senior test designer and contributor in a quality engineering team.

Review Product Requirement documents and Engineering Functional Specifications, define test strategy, and scope test effort as part of regular planning cycle.

Write detailed test plans for assigned features.

Help set the direction, process, and general test methodology for parallel development of the software and test cases.

Review the work of less experienced team members and guide and train them on the processes and tools.

Assist other members of the team with technical problems in test environments and script development

Work with the software engineering team to resolve issues arising in the test process

Develop and maintain manual scripts and libraries.

Develop and maintain innovative, repeatable test plans based on functional requirements, use cases, user interface designs, system design documents and domain knowledge

Work with Quality Engineering team members, software developers and system and database administrators to trouble-shoot test failures in the various test environments. This may include trouble-shooting database issues using SQL queries, reviewing web server and application server logs, etc.

Adhere to company policies, procedures, behaviors, and ethics.

Is attentive to detail and accuracy, is committed to excellence, looks for improvements continuously, monitors quality levels, finds root cause of quality problems, owns/acts on quality problems.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS NEEDED:

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, a related technical field or equivalent practical experience.

Experience:

5+ years of technical experience. 

Knowledge in the software development lifecycle.

Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

Experience with Test Management tools like Polarion, Jira, or similar.

Experience in an Agile development environment using methodologies like SCRUM, SAFe or equivalent.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to communicate effectively in English.

Basic knowledge of automated testing tools like Katalon Studio, Protractor, Selenium, Rest-Assured, Postman, Test Complete, Robot Framework or similar would be a plus.

Knowledge of FDA Regulations surrounding 21 CFR Part 11 and cGxP is a plus.

Familiarity with DevOps practice and Cloud based software solutions is a plus.
