Your tasks

The Strategic Global Sourcing Manager is responsible for managing global and multinational, strategic/tactical procurement activities above the threshold of 50k € in strong cooperation with the Global Category Management. He/she drives and executes strategic sourcing initiatives, defines, and controls the global end-to-end Procurement cycle, and manages and optimizes supplier performance and contracts. This role focuses as well on the entire global sourcing process including supplier identification, managing requests by global stakeholders and multinational demands for quotes (RFQs), bid evaluation, contract negotiation, and awarding and managing established supplier relations. The role is also responsible for a contract management of the corresponding contracts and categories including reports in all relevant KPIs. The Strategic Global Sourcing Manager works closely with internal stakeholders within and outside of the Head Office to meet strategic and operational needs while optimizing costs, quality, and supplier performance. He/she reports to the Head of Global Sourcing and is located at the Head Office.

1) Sourcing Execution:

* Execute end-to-end procurement processes, including supplier identification on a global scale, request for proposal (RFP) development, bid evaluation, negotiations, purchase order placement, and full implementation of buying channel strategy within Schenker over various countries or the outsourcing provider. Ensure compliance with procurement policies, procedures, and applicable regulations.

* All sourcing activities should strive for a maximum geographical scope and consolidation of suppliers which requires close alignment and coordination of sourcing activities with other clusters.

* The Strategic Global Sourcing Manager will be support improving the sourcing tool together with Procurement Excellence with practice advice, will be responsible for developing sourcing templates together with the Category Mangers and is supporting the Sourcing Managers in the clusters.

2) Supplier Coordination:

* Collaborate with suppliers to obtain quotes, negotiate pricing and terms, resolve issues, and ensure timely delivery of goods and services. Maintain effective communication channels with suppliers to address inquiries and manage relationships.

* Drive a consequent approach to further consolidate suppliers on a global perspective.

3) Contract Management:

* Conduct contract management activities, including contract creation, modifications, and renewals. Maintain contract documentation including management of category cards for contracts which are not covered by global / regional category managers, track key milestones, and ensure compliance with contractual obligations.

4) Supplier Relationship Management:

* Foster positive relationships with suppliers through effective communication, collaboration, and issue resolution. Conduct regular supplier meetings, provide feedback, and identify opportunities for improvement or value-added initiatives.

5) Process Improvement:

* Identify process inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and areas for improvement within the procurement function. Propose and implement process enhancements to optimize procurement operations, streamline workflows, and increase efficiency; this applies to all activities in both the retained Procurement organization and the outsourcing scope of services.

6) Data Analysis and Reporting:

* Collect, analyze, and report procurement data to support decision-making, measure performance, and identify trends. Generate regular reports on key metrics, such as spend analysis, cost savings, supplier performance, and compliance.

7) Stakeholder Collaboration:

* Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including Cluster Heads of Procurement, Global Category Management, Operations, Outsourcing Provider and Finance, to ensure alignment and effective execution of sourcing activities. Provide support and guidance to operational teams and businesses to establish and enhance efficient and lean order processes.

* Act as an ambassador towards BU and functions stakeholders explaining the new operating model and the need for a change in the Procurement Strategy.

8) Transition and Migration:

* Support the initial migration of operational and tactical tasks to the Outsourcing provider. Ensure a close collaboration with the Cluster Procurement, Global Category Management and Outsourcing provider in a "One Team - One Goal" sense. Provide guidance to stakeholders in order to ensure smooth interfaces and a successful change into the new operating model.

Education & Experience:

* Experience in strategic Procurement with a strong focus on HR Services, Marketing/Communications, Consulting, Financial Services.

* University degree in business administration, supply chain management, or a related field.

* Proven experience in strategic/tactical procurement, preferably in Indirect Procurement.

* Deep experience in using eSourcing tools such as SAP Ariba or others as well as profound Excel skills.

* Good experience in different buying channels and reporting of complex tables and saving reports

Requirements

Key Competencies and Skills:

* Skilled in handling various categories and demands, demonstrating flexibility and a solid understanding of their unique procurement aspects.

* Solid understanding of procurement processes, supplier management, and contract administration.

* Strong negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with internal stakeholders and suppliers.

* Experienced in utilizing procurement tools, proficient in data analysis methods including Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) and strong willingness to embrace new technologies. (Good handling of complex Excel tables)

* Collaborative mindset combined with strong assertiveness towards key stakeholders merging the company's needs with the new strategic focus of the Procurement function to drive standardization, harmonization, and consolidation within Procurement.

* Attention to detail and accuracy in processing procurement transactions and maintaining records.

* Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and generate meaningful insights.

* Familiarity with relevant regulations, compliance standards, and ethical sourcing practices.

* Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively in a dynamic work environment.

* Problem-solving orientation and the ability to address challenges and make informed decisions.

* Fluent in English.
