Regulatory Affairs Manager

Job Overview

Centrica Energy is the trading arm of Centrica. We trade LNG, gas, power and energy attributes - and connect independent producers, suppliers and corporate off-takers in the wholesale energy markets. We move and trade energy to satisfy the changing needs of customers.

We provide our clients with the best route-to-market services available to the market today, integrating sophisticated software, trading and structuring and optimizing exposures all the way from long term risk management down to physical trading seconds before delivery. In Centrica Energy we have a diversified portfolio of energy assets under management, and we represent the new generation of energy traders, leading our customers to value on low-carbon, digital energy markets across the World. Our offices span across London, Denmark, Germany, Sweden and Singapore.

Centrica Energy has a progressive agenda to play a leading role in the green transformation of our energy systems and achieve net-zero carbon targets. As our business embarks on an ambitious growth strategy, we have an exciting opportunity for a motivated Regulatory Affairs Manager to support our expanding renewable energy PPA, power trading and battery optimisation activities in Germany with a view to expand into other geographies as we further grow the business.

If the idea of working to create a sustainable energy future also moves you, we may very well be the right place for you. As a Regulatory Affairs Manager, you’ll be responsible for providing timely, succinct policy and regulatory support to the energy trading, origination, asset management and business development teams.

You will lead on developing Centrica Energy’s policy positions on a variety of topics and shaping national and European regulatory changes as we move to a decarbonised energy system over the coming years. The role focuses on the understanding, analysing and interpreting of German electricity market design and trading regulation as well as rules impacting our renewable asset management and optimisation business (for example balancing rules, ancillary services, etc.). You will work closely with team colleagues covering other geographies.

We are looking for a motivated team player, who thrives while working under pressure in a fast-paced environment. We offer you a chance to join a team of experienced and talented colleagues who will help you to achieve your peak performance and further build your knowledge and expertise of the markets. Working at Centrica you’ll have the opportunity to make your mark and influence decisions in a working environment characterized by expertise, curiosity and innovation, where the fundamental principle is excelling together. We have a strong focus and track record of nurturing talent, and the responsibilities and tasks we take on, are limited only by our imagination – we dream big and aim high when setting new goals, and we deliver on that through honesty, proactiveness and responsibility.

This role has occasional exposure to senior management within the Centrica Energy business and will require regular travel to external meetings and our offices in the UK, Denmark and Belgium (ca. 30%). Flexible working is encouraged, as agreed with the Head of Energy Trading Regulation.
