The Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics (IPP) is one of the world's leading centers for fusion research. With around 1100 dedicated employees in Garching near Munich and Greifswald, we are committed to exploring the fundamental principles of fusion power plants. These power plants generate energy without climate-damaging emissions, are safe, sustainable and nearly limitless - just like the sun. Fusion power plants have the potential to play an important role in supplying energy to future generations.At the IPP site in Garching we are conducting research on the large-scale experiment ASDEX Upgrade. This is a fusion plant of the world-famous tokamak type.Master's student - mechanical, process or production engineeringOpportunity to submit an unsolicited application for writing a Master thesis at the IPPThe Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics (IPP) offer qualified young students the opportunity to write their Master thesis at the IPP in cooperation with an universityThe topic of the thesis is "Development of a process for the additive manufacturing of components for fusion devices"We are operating two large-scale experiments in Germany: At the IPP site in Garching we are conducting research on the experiment ASDEX Upgrade, this is a fusion plant of the tokamak type. And at the IPP site in Greifswald we are conducting research on the experiment Wendelstein 7-X, this fusion plant is the world's largest stellarator type.This master's thesis is in the field of neutral beam injection (NBI). NBI is one of the most important heating devices for heating fusion plasma to over 100 million Kelvin.On our website you can find more information to the specific ITER Technology & Diagnostik (ITED) division and our research topics in the Neutral Beam Injection Group (NBI) .Expertise is a plus, but an an engineering or computer science background and passion for fusion research are enough to get started.To be a Master Student with us meansYou will be part of one of the largest scientific and technical projects in Germany with interdisciplinary project teams.
