The Position

Internship at Roche Innovation Center Munich (RICM), Large Molecule Research (LMR), Department Biologics Core Technologies (BCT)
*Your department*
The department Biologics Core Technologies (BCT) offers an internship (m/w/d) in the area of protein design, expression and purification. In BCT we are a team of dedicated scientists and associates who design and deliver customized classical and novel therapeutic protein and antibody constructs for LMR and other Roche units. We closely cooperate with all Roche disease areas to generate tailor-made large molecules for various therapeutic indications.

*Your tasks*
We are looking for an intern student to join our team and support us in the optimization of the design and purification strategies of novel antibody formats. We also offer the opportunity for a bachelor or master thesis in cooperation with your academic institution.

After a training period you will work independently on:

  • design and registration of novel proteins in Roche internal databases
  • plasmid preparation and transient expression of recombinant proteins in eukaryotic cell culture as part of our lab team
  • optimization of the purification of multi-functional antibody constructs by various chromatographic techniques
  • characterization of intermediate and final purification products by analytical methods
  • documentation of your results in the electronic lab journal and internal databases

*Your profile*

  • Student in biotechnology, biochemistry, biology, chemistry, pharmacy or a cognate discipline
  • Strong interest in protein design and biochemistry
  • Highly motivated, strongly committed, active team player
  • You love practical lab work, but you are also willing to familiarize with our commercial and Roche-internal software tools and data management systems
  • Fluent in English
