Social Worker

vor 2 Wochen

Greater Dusseldorf Area, Deutschland Crane Company Vollzeit 45.000 € - 55.000 € pro Jahr

The Crane Fund is a charitable trust established by Crane Company's founder, RT Crane in 1914. The purpose of the Fund is to provide financial assistance to former employees of Crane Company that are no longer able to support themselves due to age or physical disability. The former associate engagements are led by a team of social workers across various regions, known as
"Crane Fund Advisors"
. The Crane Fund is seeking an individual (advisor) who is an accredited social worker to assess the socioeconomic needs of current and future recipients of the Crane Fund within the assigned territory.

The advisor will determine eligibility for Fund assistance and level of need by collecting and reviewing financial documentation provided by the applicant and will then prepare recommendations for approval by the Fund Director and the Trustees of the Fund. While communication is maintained throughout the year, the advisor will need to be able to travel to recipients' homes to further build the relationship and better assess the potential level of need. The Crane Fund social worker plays a key role in identifying former Crane employees and promoting the Fund in Germany, Slovenia and Hungary.

This position is part-time, ~20 hours per week. It is a combination onsite in our Dusseldorf office location and traveling to visit with Fund recipients.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct correspondence through printed materials to former employees of Crane. Collaborate with the human resources departments of the respective locations, the German Pension Insurance and former employees and their families.
  • Conduct assessments of applicants' financial needs at home, in the office or over the phone to propose assistance from the Crane Fund. This includes gathering financial and personal information from retirees as well as family members to recommend the most appropriate assistance, measure or tender for other benefits.
  • Conduct annual home visits to existing Crane Fund recipients to determine continued eligibility for the Crane Fund and appropriateness of payment level. This will involve planning and executing trips within Germany, as well as to Slovenia and Hungary.
  • Prepare reports and recommendations for Crane Fund Board of Trustees regarding new applicants eligible for the Fund and existing recipients requiring a change in payment level or status with the Fund.
  • Payment processing: Conducting, controlling and documenting electronic bank transfers.
  • Provide counsel and guidance to individuals and families regarding other support services available to them through government and community resources to help them cope with problems related to aging, loss of cognitive abilities and declining health.
  • Serve as a contact person for former employees and their widowed spouses and ensuring that everyone is assessed individually according to their own financial situation and is not stereotyped or discriminated against.
  • Maintain data on all Crane Fund applicants and recipients; managing the German office of the Crane Fund, making payments to the beneficiaries and coordinating all administrative tasks with the Crane Fund in the USA.
  • Ensure that benefit recipients' information and records are kept up to date and that legal requirements for data protection are met, including the need to ensure that all computer and hard copy information is kept secure and confidential.

Required Qualifications:

  • Social worker with state recognition or experience in assessing needs within the social benefits system.
  • At least 2 years of professional experience in an environment in which social care was provided for the elderly and/or people with disabilities.
  • Knowledge of home care and relevant, current knowledge of legal and social policy.
  • Evidence of the ability to manage individual care independently, prioritize workload and implement sound time management principles.
  • Current comprehensive knowledge of the state welfare system.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of word processing, experience and knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Access and Outlook.
  • Valid driver's license with no entries in the traffic record.
  • Willingness to travel throughout Germany, Europe and the USA.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of access to resources for the elderly and people with disabilities.
  • Good math skills and knowledge of budget management.
  • Experience in home banking.
