Regional Financial Manager
on a
12-month contract basis
.
This role is ideal for a
German-speaking Financial Controller
who enjoys working in a multicultural environment and contributing to the strengthening of financial controls, governance, and assurance frameworks. Working closely with senior finance leadership, the successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring robust financial control, compliance, and continuous improvement across regional entities.
The position offers a high degree of flexibility, with
only a few days per month required on-site in Frankfurt
. Candidates may be based anywhere in Germany, provided they can attend the Frankfurt office as needed.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Control, Reporting & Audit
- Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, including prepayments, accruals, depreciation/amortisation, and intercompany transactions
- Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring all accounts are fully reconciled and clearly documented within agreed deadlines
- Support monthly consolidation and management reporting, including sub-consolidations where required
- Create and maintain entity and group consolidation templates
- Ensure compliance with group ledger and reporting standards across jurisdictions
- Support the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of internal controls and financial processes
- Review work prepared by internal teams and external service providers to ensure accuracy, compliance, and quality
- Maintain shadow IFRS reporting with guidance from the Senior Regional Financial Controller
- Assist with external audits, ensuring timely resolution of queries and provision of supporting documentation
- Prepare statutory accounts for individual entities and consolidated group accounts in line with local requirements
Taxation
- Assist with indirect tax matters, including VAT returns, import/export VAT, and related administration
- Liaise with local tax authorities when required
- Support employment tax matters in collaboration with senior finance stakeholders
- Assist with the timely filing of corporate income tax returns for relevant entities
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a recognised professional accounting qualification
- Minimum
4 years' experience
in accounting or financial control roles - Strong knowledge of
German GAAP
and the German tax environment - Native or near-native German
and
fluent English
(written and spoken) - Strong Excel skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Experience with
NetSuite
or similar ERP systems is advantageous - Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical skills
- Must be
based in Germany
and able to attend the
Frankfurt office a few times per month
