About our client
Our client is a leading early-stage venture capital fund with a strong focus on climate technologies in Northern Europe. The firm invests in high-impact companies driving the energy transition, industrial decarbonisation, and climate adaptation. Backed by institutional investors and reputable European family offices, the fund has already closed a EUR 170 million vehicle and supports a growing portfolio of category-defining companies. As an Article 9 SFDR-aligned fund, the firm is committed to measurable carbon removal at scale. To further strengthen its financial operations and enable sustainable growth, the fund is seeking a Finance & Operations Manager to join its team. The role is based in Berlin, Germany.
What the job involves
- Partner with the CFO to help shape scalable and robust financial structures while remaining hands-on in day-to-day execution
- Contribute to fund operations, including cash flow planning, treasury management, investor commitments, capital calls, and distributions
- Assist with investor reporting and ensure high-quality delivery of LP communications
- Take ownership of end-to-end finance processes (bookkeeping, invoices, expenses, payments) and support monthly/annual closings in collaboration with external tax advisors
- Support compliance procedures covering KYC/AML, regulatory filings, and fund documentation
- Work closely with auditors, fund administrators, tax, and legal advisors during reviews and audits
- Improve and streamline operational processes through optimization of tools such as DATEV, Affinity CRM, and financial tracking systems
- Gather financial data from portfolio companies to support reporting dashboards and strategic initiatives
Who we are looking for
- University degree in business administration, finance, or a related field
- Several years of professional experience in finance, accounting, or fund operations (e.g. VC/PE firm, Big4, fund administrator, or family office)
- Solid understanding of fund structures, LP commitments, and capital call workflows is a strong plus
- Proficiency in DATEV or similar accounting tools; strong Excel/Google Sheets skills highly desirable
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements such as AIFMD, KVGs, or BaFin advantageous
- Hands-on, detail-oriented mindset with strong ownership and problem-solving skills
- Comfortable managing recurring finance processes while handling ad-hoc requests with agility
- Interest in venture capital, technology, or sustainability ecosystems welcome
- Willingness to work regularly from the Berlin office
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with internal and external stakeholders
- Fluent in German and English, with strong written and verbal communication skills in both languages
