In this role, you will be a key player in our "Sustainable Materials" team, driving innovation in bioplastics. This is more than a job; it's an opportunity to conduct a PhD thesis on a topic with tangible environmental impact.

YOUR TASKS

• Lead the development, optimization, and characterization of next-generation bioplastics derived from sustainable protein feedstocks
• Use advanced modeling and simulation software to design, integrate, and optimize biorefinery processes for efficient bioplastic production
• Conduct comprehensive Techno-Economic Analyses (TEA) and sustainability assessments to validate the commercial and environmental viability
• Contribute your expertise to the development of competitive research proposals for national and international funding bodies
• Supervise and guide Bachelor's and Master's students

YOUR PROFILE

Requirements

• Completed scientific university studies, in particular in the subject of Process Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, or a closely related field

Required knowledge and personal skills

• Hands-on experience in a laboratory environment, with a strong grasp of experimental design, data analysis, and scientific methodology
• Proven skills in process simulation, optimization, and scale-up using relevant software (e.g., Aspen Plus, MATLAB, Python)
• Solid understanding of Techno-Economic Assessment (TEA) principles and their application in process development
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with full professional proficiency in English and German (both written and spoken, B2/C1)
