Weekly hours75 % of standard work hours per week**Responsibilities**:
Research associates will be expected primarily to teach and conduct research. The research associate will also have the opportunity to pursue further academic qualifications, in particular a doctoral dissertation. At least one-third of set working hours will be made available for the research associate’s own academic work.

Your tasks is interfacing a combined velocity-map-imaging spectrometer and ion microscope unit with a quantum gas machine that allows the assembly of ultracold atoms into arbitrary geometries with optical tweezers. Ultrafast laser pulses then excite the atoms into Rydberg states with overlapping electron wavefunctions for creating artificial molecules. The quantum dynamics of such molecules shall be analyzed by tracing the position of the ions with a high spatial resolution in correlation with the momentum of the electrons.

Teaching duties include three hours per week during teaching times (3 LVS).

**Profile**:
A university degree in a relevant field.
- a university Master’s degree in physics
- a strong experimental background in ultra-high vacuum techniques as well as optics and laser technology for trapping and manipulating ultracold atoms
- experience in programming with Python is helpful
- self-motivated and team player with good communication skills
