We are partnering with a pioneering player in the energy storage and grid infrastructure sector, supporting their search for an experienced Civil Engineer / Construction Manager to take a leading role in delivering grid-scale battery storage projects across Germany.

This organisation is at the forefront of the energy transition, developing large-scale battery storage systems that stabilise the power grid, enhance flexibility, and reduce reliance on fossil fuels. The role offers an opportunity to work at the intersection of civil engineering, renewable energy, and project leadership, shaping a key part of Germany's future energy infrastructure.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Head of Project Delivery, you'll take end-to-end responsibility for the construction oversight and project coordination of grid-scale energy storage sites (5–100 MW). You'll manage all construction activities – from design review and tendering through to commissioning – ensuring projects are executed safely, on time, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as client representative on large-scale battery storage construction sites
  • Lead and supervise all construction phases through to commissioning
  • Coordinate all trades, with a focus on civil and structural works
  • Oversee audits, cost control, and contractor payments (VOB/BGB)
  • Manage inspections and ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards
  • Support planning and permitting processes (BauGB, BImSchG, EnWG)
  • Evaluate technical submissions and tender documentation
  • Liaise with external planners, engineers, and authorities

Candidate Profile

  • Degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Industrial Engineering or equivalent
  • Proven experience in construction management or project control, ideally in energy, utilities, or infrastructure
  • Sound knowledge of German construction and contract law (VOB/A, VOB/B, BGB)
  • Experience with permitting and regulatory processes in Germany
  • Skilled in project scheduling and coordination
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills with external stakeholders
  • Fluent German and very good English
  • A background in electrical or energy storage projects would be an advantage, as would SiGeKo certification.
