About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled and motivated
Grid Connection Project Manager
to lead and coordinate the grid connection of a wind farm project located in the North Rhine region. You will play a critical role in ensuring the successful and timely integration of wind-generated power into the regional and national electricity grid, working closely with TSOs, DSOs, regulatory bodies, engineering teams, and contractors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Management:
    Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of the grid connection project from development to commissioning.
  • Stakeholder Coordination:
    Serve as the primary liaison between the wind farm developer, transmission/distribution system operators (TSOs/DSOs), regulatory authorities (e.g. BNetzA), and engineering partners.
  • Grid Connection Design:
    Oversee the technical design and specification of grid connection infrastructure including substations, transformers, switchgear, and cable routes.
  • Permitting & Regulatory Compliance:
    Ensure all grid connection works are fully compliant with German and EU energy regulations, grid codes, and permitting requirements.
  • Contract & Risk Management:
    Manage contracts with EPCs and subcontractors; identify and mitigate project risks and interface challenges.
  • Scheduling & Budgeting:
    Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and resource plans; monitor progress against key milestones and report to senior management.
  • Grid Code Compliance & Testing:
    Coordinate commissioning and compliance testing in line with applicable German grid codes (e.g. TOR, VDE-AR-N 4120).
  • Technical Documentation:
    Ensure proper documentation, data submission, and communication with relevant grid authorities throughout the process.

Requirements:

Essential Qualifications & Experience:

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Systems, Renewable Energy, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience managing grid connection projects, preferably in the renewable energy sector (wind or solar).
  • Proven experience with high-voltage (HV) or medium-voltage (MV) grid infrastructure projects.
  • Strong knowledge of German grid connection processes, regulations, and permitting procedures.
  • Experience working with TSOs (e.g. 50Hertz, TenneT) and DSOs in Germany.
  • Familiar with project management methodologies and tools (e.g. MS Project, Primavera).
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.

Desirable:

  • Project Management Certification (PMP, PRINCE2, IPMA) is an advantage.
  • Previous experience on wind energy projects in Germany or wider Europe.
  • Understanding of GIS, SCADA integration, or renewable energy forecasting tools.
