Development Engineer Solar

Your mission

• Bring new or improved processes and equipment from first idea to stable high-volume manufacturing in our next-generation thin-film PV technology (TRL 2 → TRL 9).
• Lead or contribute to development projects focused on process and equipment innovation.
• Plan, run and evaluate experiments, internally or with external partners, and guide new processes all the way into production.
• Take hands-on ownership across the full production flow: from paste preparation and screen printing to backend module steps.
• Analyze process and equipment deviations, identify root causes and define corrective actions.
• Specify lab, pilot-line and mass-production equipment, materials and processes throughout the development cycle.
• Ensure a safe, well-documented working environment for lab, pilot line and production areas.
• Set up and assess stability tests.
• Evaluate technical quotes for equipment, processes and materials, and prepare decision input.
• Work closely with internal teams and external partners.
• Stay up to date with state-of-the-art technologies in process and equipment engineering.

Your profile

• Master's degree in physics, chemistry, materials science, electrical engineering, equipment engineering or a related field.
• Experience in functional layer screen printing or thin-film PV (Perovskites, Organics, CIGS, CdTe) in applied research or production/process engineering.
• Industry experience in a related field is a plus, ideally in development or process engineering.
• Curiosity and drive to deepen your understanding of relevant technologies.
• A collaborative team player who enjoys working in a fast-moving start-up environment.
• Solid methodical skills (e.g., data evaluation, FMEA, DOE, SPC, MS Office).
• Hands-on mindset: you enjoy running experiments and improving tools and processes for knowledge sharing.
• Professional English skills; German is a plus.
• Openness to travel and support experiments at other sites.
