Lead Data Scientist | €10B+ Global Retail & E-Commerce Leader | Customer Intelligence & AI | Düsseldorf/NRW (Hybrid)

AI Futures have been retained to find a Lead Data Scientist for a global multichannel retail and e-commerce leader. With €10B+ revenue and millions of customers across Europe, the company is scaling its AI to drive personalization, retention, and growth.

This is a strategic yet hands-on role, balancing technical delivery with stakeholder engagement. You'll define priorities, lead on high-impact initiatives, and ensure that advanced analytics and AI directly influence customer experience and commercial performance.

The Role

  • Define and lead the customer intelligence & AI agenda with board-level visibility.
  • Build and oversee ML models for churn, LTV, retention, personalization, and dynamic pricing.
  • Partner with product, marketing, and technology teams to deliver scalable solutions.
  • Develop feature engineering pipelines to power personalized offers and pricing optimization.
  • Translate complex data insights into clear business recommendations for leadership.
  • Balance hands-on work with the strategic management of priorities and stakeholders.
  • Drive innovation by introducing emerging AI and machine learning approaches.

The Candidate

  • 6+ years in data science, analytics, or AI with exposure to large-scale customer data.
  • Experience balancing technical execution with strategy and stakeholder management.
  • Skilled in Python, SQL, cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure), and ML frameworks.
  • Proven ability to link data science initiatives to measurable business outcomes.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills with executive stakeholders.
  • Languages: German and English
