About Finance Information Excellence

We are Uniper's Finance Information Excellence team. Our purpose is to be the catalyst for excellence in how Finance uses data and AI. We create, enable, and maintain the pathways that connect data science innovation with finance expertise — turning business knowledge into advanced, data-driven solutions. By collaborating closely with controlling, accounting, internal controls, and IT, we ensure Finance operates with a trusted data foundation that delivers actionable insights leading to best-in-class financial decisions at Uniper. To help us achieve our mission, our Data Foundation & Enablement group is looking for a Senior Data Engineer to take a leading role in shaping the backbone of Finance data.

Role Description

The Senior Data Engineer in Finance Information Excellence – Data Foundation & Enablement is responsible for designing and leading the implementation of our application-agnostic Data Model in Finance. The role secures the stewardship of our Data across the Finance functions and ensures it is high-quality, consistent, actionable and fit for purpose. In addition, the Senior Data Engineer is the key point of contact to other Lead Data Engineers across the Uniper group as well as our key technical liaison to the Uniper Data Council and its experts.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and maintain the application-agnostic data model in Finance, aligned with the needs of our Finance Functions, as well as group-wide standards, IT Architecture and our Uniper Business
• Lead the assessment of the finance data landscape, identifying gaps, redundancies, and opportunities for optimization and harmonization
• Build and maintain data pipelines, integrations, and transformation processes for finance data
• Partner with our Data Scientists and Finance colleagues to translate business requirements into data driven solutions.
• Establish and oversee data quality and governance frameworks across finance platforms and processes
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to the Data Engineer(s) within the Data Foundation and Enablement pillar.
• Collaborate with IT, platform owners, and data governance bodies to ensure alignment with enterprise standards
• Deliver recommendations on data platform improvements, solutions, integration, and tooling

 

Your profile

• Degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or related field
• 8+ years of experience in data engineering, data architecture, or data management, ideally in finance or a regulated industry
• Strong knowledge of finance processes (accounting, controlling, internal controls) and how data underpins them
• Deep technical expertise in SQL, data modelling, data pipelines and monitoring, ETL/ELT, APIs, and cloud data platforms
• Experience with data governance frameworks and metadata management
• Ability to influence other stakeholders on technical matters
