Hamburg, Hamburg, Deutschland Twin Harbour Interactive Vollzeit 90.000 € - 120.000 € pro Jahr
Join us as Lead Game Designer on our existing and upcoming games

At Twin Harbour Interactive we strive to develop high-quality strategy games and make them accessible for all players around the world. In our eyes game development is a promise for fun and entertainment – that's what we live and aim for

As a Lead Game Designer, you empower your team and support the Head of Product in building and growing the game, and building a more collaborative work environment. You bridge the gap between game vision and day-to-day design decisions, translating different perspectives into actionable work. You stay hands-on with the craft and help your team navigate the constant balance between ideal design and real constraints.

The Supremacy Franchise has reached over 90 million players lifetime, with 2.2 million monthly active users and 300,000+ concurrent commanders in peak campaigns. Our mission: deliver best-in-class strategy worlds that challenge, engage, and reward players over weeks, months, and years. You'll be leading design for one of four live titles: Supremacy: 1914, Supremacy: Call of War 1942, Supremacy: WW3, or Supremacy: Warhammer 40,000. Each game serves its own community, and you'll coordinate with other Leads across the Franchise to share learnings and maintain strategic alignment. Your game is your focus. The Franchise is your context. You own design leadership for your title while staying connected to the broader vision.

YOUR MISSION
  • Lead and Develop Your Team: Manage, mentor, and grow Game Designers through 1:1s, performance reviews, and career development. Work with the Head of Department to build a collaborative environment where each designer's capabilities grow over time.
  • Articulate and Communicate Vision: Translate high-level creative direction into clear, actionable design documentation. Make sure everyone understands how their work connects to the game vision. Keep your team aligned and fully informed about broader goals. When things change, communicate clearly and help people stay on track.
  • Stay Hands-On With Design: Build prototypes, write feature specs, participate in playtests, and iterate on designs alongside your team. Lead by example and stay connected to the craft.
  • Navigate Compromises and Constraints: Balance ideal design with reality. Adjust scope, shift priorities, manage risk, and make tough calls when timelines, resources, or technical limitations require it. Help your team work through these tradeoffs while protecting quality and vision.
  • Drive Data-Informed Iteration: Use metrics, player feedback, and live data to shape design decisions. Build a culture where iteration based on evidence is standard practice.
  • Think Strategically About Game Health: Consider long-term impacts - technical debt, scalability, how live updates affect player experience over time. Help your team balance immediate business needs with sustainable game development.
  • Bridge Disciplines: Work as the primary contact for Tech, Art, QA, and Production. Make sure designs are technically feasible and artistically cohesive. Talk with stakeholders to understand the full implications of design decisions.
  • Build Ownership and Enable Growth: Create clarity around responsibilities and support accountability within your team. Resolve misalignments before they become problems. Help individuals identify meaningful development paths, build systems that normalize feedback, and make sure learning happens regularly.

YOUR PROFILE
  • Demonstrated track record working on live titles or strategy games. You've shipped products, supported them post-launch, and understand the unique challenges of live operations.
  • Strong design competence as a generalist who understands how different disciplines connect to create a cohesive player experience. You can speak knowledgeably with specialists in areas like system design, economy and monetization, balance, or UX/UI.
  • Proven ability to lead, mentor, and grow designers. You've built collaborative environments and developed people's skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication. You can articulate complex ideas clearly and create alignment across teams.
Nice to Have:
  • Experience with hybrid, remote, and multi-location game development teams.
  • Passion for grand strategy titles and a track record managing design for games with long-term player engagement.
  • Passion for PvP strategy titles, and the ability to consider both the competitive demographic and the casual demographic during the design process.
