Technical Project Manager - Sports Engineering - Communication Systems in Sport (ZECOM)

PURPOSE & OVERALL RELEVANCE FOR THE ORGANISATION
This role contributes to adidas' mission to be the best sports company in the world by exploring Human Perception, Exercise Physiology and Sport Performance opportunities within the creation and evaluation of innovative sport products and concepts. To build and enhance performance validation tools, guidelines, and processes. To act as a key driver of innovation for development teams in adidas Innovation and across the brand.

Key Responsibilities

• As a creative contributor, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams—including Data Science, Engineering, Materials, Product Concept, and Product Development—to shape and develop innovative product experiences. Actively participate in exploration activities, convert ideas into actions, and help solve technical challenges to deliver the best possible outcomes for adidas consumers.
• Drive the development of the next generation sports innovations in cooperation with internal teams and external research partners. Be a consultant on topics intersecting sports science and engineering. Support the implementation of a proof-of-concept, demonstrator or prototype.
• Be part of the engineering process from concept to implementation and test phases and collaborate in agile, distributed and multi-disciplinary teams. Work in close relationship with project management, for alignment on key deliveries.
• Organize, coordinate and conduct testing activities: material, mechanical and functional testing. Build test stands, create test plans, run tests, track issues and document results according to the organizational standards. Support the interpretation of results with statistical methods and analytical skills. Manage project workstream tasks including test and error management.
• Provide scientific insights on relevant athlete and technology topics and be a consultant for development engineers. Gain a deep understanding in selected sport science applications and show responsibility to own and distribute knowledge
• Organize, coordinate and conduct the development and production of a proof-of-concept, demonstrator or prototype. Support the development of innovative methods to stock-fit and produce. Align production between development teams and external partners.
• Support and coordinate the development with partners like business units, external suppliers and universities. Support research projects to extend our sports knowledge. Ensure project artifacts are complete, comprehensive, adhering to standards and guidelines for project management and delivery. Prepare results for reporting and communication.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

• Curiosity for science and technology with a passion for making insights in the field of sport
• Ability to understand scientific and complex information, and communicate this to technical and non-technical audiences
• Innovation / entrepreneur / maker mindset
• Test engineer for materials, mechanical and functional testing of sports devices
• Consultant for sport science topics with solid scientific knowledge in running and football
• Experience in materials, mechanical and functional testing
• Experience in statistical methods for data analysis
• Advanced influencing, communication, presentation and networking skills
• Fluency in English, Basic German required due to Public Funding reporting needs

Requisite Education And Experience / Minimum Qualifications

• University degree in sport science or sport technology, medical technology, natural science, UX/HCI, or relevant field
• Experience in applying sensors and wearables in a human behavioral setting and the data analysis around it
• Experience in different radio frequency Protocols like Wifi, Blue Tooth and UWB
• First experience in Python
• 3 - 5 years of working experience (PhD/MSc or relevant experiences will be considered)

Requisite Education And Experience / Minimum Qualifications

• At least Bachelor degree in sports engineering, sports technology, sports science, test engineering or related fields (Master degree considered as advantage)
• Experience in material, mechanical and functional testing
