We're building a new generation of outbound: one focused on creativity, authenticity, and value, not volume. Our Sales Development team is at the heart of that - connecting with data and engineering leaders who want to unlock the power of streaming data.
Role OverviewThe Sales Development Representative (SDR) is the first point of contact in Ververica's growth journey. You will drive meaningful engagement with prospects through thoughtful, human, and research-driven outreach. You will identify, engage, and qualify potential customers while embodying Ververica's values of curiosity, creativity, and community.
This is not a traditional SDR role. We're building a modern, trusted brand and believe sales should reflect that. Blending social presence, storytelling, and value-led conversations to open doors and build relationships.
Key ResponsibilitiesProspect Engagement and Pipeline Creation
- Identify and engage target accounts across key industries using personalized, insight-driven outreach.
- Initiate authentic conversations with data and engineering leaders or similar (e.g., Heads of Data Platform, Data Engineers, Architects).
- Qualify inbound and outbound leads to ensure strong alignment between customer needs and Ververica's solutions.
- Leverage signals (intent data, event activity, social engagement) to time and tailor outreach for maximum relevance.
- Use platforms like LinkedIn or Reddit, industry events, and community spaces to build a strong network and personal brand. Create lead-generating content.
- Develop thoughtful messaging that reflects understanding of customer challenges and industry trends.
- To stand out authentically, experiment with new outreach formats like video messages, voice notes, micro-content, and community posts.
- Work closely with Marketing to execute coordinated campaigns and event follow-ups.
- Partner with Account Executives to hand off qualified meetings smoothly and strategically.
- Share feedback and insights from the field to help shape messaging, campaigns, and market positioning.
- Stay curious about data streaming, Apache Flink, and real-time architectures to speak credibly with technical personas.
- Embrace experimentation and data to improve outreach quality and conversion rates.
- Build your personal brand and thought leadership presence alongside Ververica's.
Requirements
- 1–3 years of experience in sales or business development, ideally within B2B tech or data.
- Excellent written and verbal communication. You can turn complex ideas into clear, compelling messages.
- A creative, curious mindset with strong research and storytelling skills.
- Experience using tools like HubSpot, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, ChatGPT or similar platforms.
- Bonus: Experience with open source developer or data communities, or familiarity with Apache Flink, streaming data, or real-time analytics.
- Bonus: Experience with social media, creating content for lead generation, building followership, and influencing.
