FM is a leading commercial insurance company that provides risk management and loss prevention services through a unique combination of engineering, underwriting and claims. We work to ensure business continuity and safeguard our clients' properties with seamless, worldwide coverage and property loss prevention engineering solutions.

FM is looking for a German Translator  to join our Frankfurt-based team as an parental leave replacement (temporary). This is a great opportunity to play a key role in making FM's brand, services, and technical expertise resonate across German-speaking markets including Germany and Switzerland.

Responsibilities

  • Translate and adapt content from English to German, including but not limited to:

  • Insurance documentation (policy templates, underwriting guidelines)

  • Marketing and sales materials (web content, presentations, press releases, multimedia)

  • Engineering reports, project & plan review letters and risk prevention materials

  • Ensure translations are accurate, culturally appropriate, and aligned with FM's tone of voice and brand.
  • Collaborate with subject-matter experts to clarify terminology and intent.
  • Maintain and contribute to internal linguistic resources: glossaries, style guides, translation memories.
  • Prioritize and manage multiple projects to meet deadlines and quality standards.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Translation, Localization, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of professional experience in translation, with expertise in marketing and legal materials, and some experience in technical content.
  • Native-level fluency in German with excellent command of English, with additional languages such as Polish or Czech being a plus.
  • Strong writing skills and attention to detail.
  • Good command of translation tools (e.g., CAT tools, terminology databases).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, and ability to work cross-functionally with teams and experts.
