Your responsibilities
Duties include academic services in the project named above. Research associates may also pursue independent research and further academic qualifications.
The project funded by the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR) aims to develop neuro-inspired and cross-modal AI-based speech signal processing algorithms in an interdisciplinary collaboration between core disciplines of AI (i.e., speech and multimodal signal processing, and human-AI communication) and neuroscience (i.e., neuroinformatics and computational neuroscience). Multiple experts from AI and neuroscience will work on this project. For this position, the tasks include developing neuro-inspired, cross-modal AI-based speech signal processing algorithms for the real-time cocktail party problem, designing a prototypical smart glasses application to assist users with selective listening tasks in a human-centered design process and improving its usability, user experience, and performance. Further tasks include support in coordinating and organizing project-related work, cooperation with project partners, communication with the relevant administrative bodies, writing project reports and other publications.
Your profile
A university degree in a relevant field.
Preferably in the subjects Human-Computer Interaction, Signal Processing, Computer Science, Data Science, or Electrical Engineering.

- Human-Computer Interaction

For the implementation, very good programming skills as well as the following additional technical skills would be preferable:
- Python and Pytorch
- Unity3D, Unreal or similar engines
- smart glasses or other devices (e.g., audio-visual XR devices and/or controllers)
- object-oriented programming (e.g., C#, C ++ or Java)
- statistics (e.g. R or SPSS)
