Job Summary:
The Turnover Piping Engineer is responsible for ensuring all piping systems are installed,
inspected, and tested according to project specifications, codes, and quality requirements.
The role ensures verification, documentation control, and structured turnover of piping
systems from construction to commissioning. The Engineer coordinates with
subcontractors, construction, and client teams to achieve compliance and readiness.
Key Responsibilities:
Quality Management
• Lead audits, inspections, and surveillance to ensure compliance with project
requirements.
• Provide oversight of welding, fabrication, installation, and testing.
• Coordinate with client quality personnel for inspections and approvals.
Piping Inspection & amp; Verification
• Oversee inspections on piping materials, welds, supports, and routing.
• Monitor welding procedures, qualifications, and NDE NDT results.
• Review and approve pressure tests, flushing, and reinstatement.
Turnover and System Completion Support
• Lead piping system walkdowns and punch list closure.
• Track and manage NCRs and punch item resolution with subcontractors.
• Support readiness for Mechanical Completion (MC) and Pre-Commissioning.
Documentation & Handover
• Oversee review, compilation, and validation of piping documentation.
• Ensure delivery of complete and traceable TOPs.
• Support structured and timely handover with commissioning and document control
teams.
Qualifications for Turnover Piping Engineer (LinkedIn-Ready)
Technical Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Piping Engineering, or a related discipline
- Strong knowledge of piping systems, fabrication, welding processes, and installation standards
- Familiarity with international codes and standards (ASME, API, ASTM, ISO, AWS)
- Experience with NDE/NDT methods and interpreting test results
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting P&IDs, isometrics, GA drawings, and material specifications
- Hands-on experience with pressure testing, hydrotesting, flushing, preservation, and reinstatement
- Solid understanding of Mechanical Completion (MC), Pre-Commissioning, and Commissioning workflows
Quality & Turnover Competency
- Experience conducting audits, inspections, surveillance, and quality oversight activities
- Proven ability to manage NCRs, punch lists, and quality documentation
- Strong background in system walkdowns, verification, and turnover package (TOP) preparation
- Familiarity with turnover management systems (e.g., MCPlus, Hexagon/Smart Completions, Aconex, etc.)
Documentation & Control
- Skilled in preparing, reviewing, and validating piping documentation, including ITPs, WPS/PQR/WPQs, test packages, and MDRs
- Strong document control understanding to ensure full traceability for handover
Project & Coordination Skills
- Experience coordinating with subcontractors, construction teams, quality inspectors, and client representatives
- Ability to manage multiple systems and priorities while maintaining compliance and deadlines
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills during installation, testing, and reinstatement stages
Soft Skills
- Excellent communication and reporting skills

- Strong organizational and time management abilities
- Ability to work in fast-paced construction and commissioning environments
