The Brandenburg Medical School (MHB) is seeking a motivated and dedicated Research Associate (m/f/d) to join exciting projects within the CARE Research Group.

This position is available immediately on a fixed-term basis of 24 months, part-time (20 hours per week), at our location in Rüdersdorf near Berlin.

The Brandenburg Medical School (MHB) is a state-recognized university under municipal and non-profit sponsorship. With its three university hospitals and four campus locations in Bernau, Brandenburg an der Havel, Neuruppin, and Rüdersdorf, it stands for practice-oriented and research-based study programs as well as for the unity of research, teaching, and healthcare. MHB's research focuses on patient-centered healthcare for an aging society.

The CARE Research Group (Climate, Aging, and Relationships) aims to explore the role of loneliness in the context of climate change and to develop innovative intervention strategies. Additionally, we plan to develop the Social Relationship Expectations Scale through an international, multi-method Delphi study. As a young and dynamic team, we offer ample opportunities for creative input into research projects and third-party funding applications, particularly in understanding loneliness from the perspectives of global mental health and Planetary Health.

Your responsibilities:

• You will independently work on research projects related to loneliness, social relationships, and aging within the context of climate change.
• You will assist in the development of the Social Relationship Expectations Scale in Germany, Hong Kong, and the USA.
• You will design and oversee your own research projects focusing on social relationships and/or aging in the context of climate change.
• You will undertake independent research tasks, including literature reviews, data analyses, and the publication of scientific articles in international peer-reviewed journals.
• You will contribute to the development of the research group through support with third-party funding applications.
• You will supervise and mentor students.

Your profile:

General requirements:

• Completed degree in Psychology, Public Health, Global Health, Epidemiology, Medicine, or a related field
• PhD qualification is advantageous (however, there are opportunities to pursue a doctoral degree)
• Interest in loneliness research is desirable
• Strong knowledge of quantitative research methods
• Experience in scale development, network analysis, or statistical analysis with R is beneficial
• Experience with climate research is a plus
• Excellent written and spoken English communication skills
• High degree of independence, teamwork ability, and scientific curiosity

Basic skills and competencies:

• Analytical thinking, scientific curiosity, and organizational skills
• Ability to collaborate across disciplines
• Confident and rigorous scientific working style, with excellent communication skills in both written and spoken English
• Proficiency in digital research tools and statistical software
