Your Mission
Radical Dot is hiring for a skilled Mechanical Engineer (m/w/o) who will fearlessly lead efforts on the scale up development of our breakthrough technology to recycle mixed plastic waste into key chemical building blocks moving beyond pyrolysis, gasification and other know technologies.
As an early-stage start-up, we are looking for a hands-on engineer who thrives in a dynamic and multi-disciplinary environment. You will play a critical role in the run of our upcoming demonstration plant kg/day input plastic), contributing directly to the success of our mission to address the global plastics crisis.
TasksYour Role
You will be responsible for the mechanical design, specification, and integration of process equipment for our demonstration plant. Working closely with process engineers and EPC partners, you'll ensure that all mechanical components meet performance, safety, and reliability standards.
Your Responsibilities
Equipment Design & Specification
Support preliminary sizing of piping, reactors, heat exchangers, pumps, compressors, and separators including mechanical supports for the equipment (racks, frames)
Prepare mechanical datasheets and review vendor specifications
Evaluate custom-built and proprietary equipment for process compatibility
Assist in defining mechanical interfaces and layout constraints
Vendor Coordination & Procurement Support
Participate in vendor selection and technical evaluations
Review fabrication drawings and ensure compliance with specifications
Support factory acceptance tests (FAT) and quality inspections
Track delivery schedules and coordinate with EPC procurement teams
Construction & Commissioning Support
Provide technical oversight during equipment installation
Resolve mechanical integration issues on-site
Support cold commissioning and mechanical performance testing
Document mechanical systems and contribute to handover packages
Your Skillset
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- 3+ years of experience in process plant design or equipment engineering
- Familiarity with process industries (chemical recycling, oil&gas, chemicals, pharma, energy, etc.)
- Understanding of pressure vessels, rotating equipment, and piping systems
- Experience with CAD tools (e.g. AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Plant 3D)
- Experience with pilot projects, startups, or fast-paced, high-iteration environments is a plus
- Demonstrated ability to anticipate technical issues and apply creative, hands-on problem-solving in fast-paced environments.
- Comfortable working in a small, agile team with a proactive and flexible mindset.
- Fluent in English; German proficiency is a plus
