Quality Engineer - Offshore Wind Turbine Generators (WTG)

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced
Quality Engineer
to support the WTG package within the Nordseecluster offshore wind project. The role involves ensuring compliance with contractual quality requirements, managing quality control activities, and overseeing supply chain performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the WTG Quality Engineer with portfolio responsibilities.
  • Ensure contractor compliance with Employer's requirements.
  • Review and assess quality documentation from the supply chain.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute Quality Control (QC) activities.
  • Manage and oversee Quality Inspectors and supply chain quality performance.
  • Capture inspections, progress, and non-conformities in RWE's Quality Inspection App.
  • Initiate and manage non-conformity reports and corrective actions.
  • Maintain auditable quality records and documentation.
  • Provide recommendations for resolution of non-conformities.
  • Support claims processes and quality issue resolution.
  • Collate as-built and installation quality records for commercial operations.
  • Prepare weekly reports and escalate issues to the Quality Manager.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Quality Assurance/Control for WTG packages.
  • Strong understanding of offshore wind turbine manufacturing and supply chains.
  • Experience leading/coordinating inspectors.
  • Knowledge of WTG manufacturing processes, including blades and sub-components.
  • Familiarity with Project Certification Requirements (VGB European Directives).
  • Skilled in Inspection and Test Plans, Project Quality Plans, and Quality Surveillance Programs.
  • IT proficiency (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken).

Education & Certifications

  • Degree in Mechanical/Energy Engineering or equivalent (HNC or similar).
  • Experience in wind turbine manufacture, assembly, and installation.
  • APQP4Wind experience.
  • ISO 9001:2015 Lead Auditor certification.
  • CQI membership or equivalent.
  • Full driving license.
  • Required HSE training: Full GWO and HUET (Working at Heights, Fire Awareness, First Aid) or willingness to obtain at own cost.
