About The Role

My client's Services Division delivers a comprehensive portfolio of solutions to EV Hardware manufacturers, EV OEMs, mobility service providers, and automotive partners. This includes software services, interoperability support, systems integration expertise, and consultancy-led delivery of complex charging programmes.

The division has recently completed a major organisational redesign and service proposition build. With the foundations now in place, my client is seeking a proactive and commercially minded
Head of Commercial
to lead the next phase:
selling and scaling the service & product offering
, deepening OEM partnerships, and driving the commercial success of the division.

In this role, you will lead a high-performing team (~20 FTE), work closely with engineering, testing, and product teams, and act as the senior commercial face of the organisation across the automotive ecosystem. You will help shape the next stage of growth and position the business as a trusted partner for OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers, consultancies, and major hardware manufacturers.

Responsibilities

1. Strategy & Proposition Ownership (set up complete – now scaling)

  • Continue refining and operationalising the
    Services strategy
    that has already been created.
  • Further evolve the
    service proposition
    for EV OEMs, hardware manufacturers, MSPs, and automotive suppliers.

2. Commercial Leadership & Selling the Portfolio

  • Lead the commercial delivery of the services and product portfolio, with a strong focus on
    consultancy-led sales
    .

Drive B2B sales into:

  • Automotive OEMs (car & truck)
  • Tier 1 suppliers
  • EV charging hardware manufacturers
  • AC charging solution providers
  • MSPs selling into OEMs
  • Automotive consultancies (e.g., McKinsey, Roland Berger)
  • Use and expand your existing
    OEM network
    , building trusted senior-level relationships.

3. Consultancy & Project Delivery

  • Oversee the delivery of
    large, complex customer projects
    , often lasting 12–18 months.
  • Ensure clear governance, process alignment, and cross-functional collaboration across engineering, testing, and services teams.
  • Support customers in areas such as interoperability, hardware integration, systems implementation, and operational readiness.

4. Team & Organisational Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and scale a multi-disciplinary team of 15–20 professionals.
  • Guide the organisation through ongoing
    transformation
    , portfolio refinement, and a further planned restructuring later this year.
  • Ensure alignment between commercial, technical, and operational teams.

5. Customer Engagement & Representation

  • Represent the organisation in senior OEM meetings, negotiations, workshops, and industry events.
  • Build and maintain long-term consulting-led customer relationships.
  • Support pre-sale activities and value proposition development while collaborating closely with technical teams.

About You

Experience & Expertise

  • Strong background in
    eMobility
    , EV charging, automotive technology, or related technical product fields.
  • A
    well-established network
    within automotive OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers, hardware manufacturers, or AC charging companies.

Experience from:

  • Automotive suppliers
  • OEM-side engineering or charging programmes
  • Technical product or software businesses
  • MSPs that sell into OEMs
  • Automotive consultancies (Roland Berger, McKinsey, etc.)
  • Experience leading
    large teams (10–20+)
    in a matrix or technical environment.
  • B2B sales experience, ideally for technical services or consulting engagements.
  • Demonstrated success managing long-running, complex technical projects.

Personal Strengths

  • Excellent stakeholder and relationship management skills.
  • Comfortable working closely with engineering and product functions.
  • Proactive, structured, and capable of driving organisational change.
  • Strong communicator with the ability to bridge technical and commercial topics.

Language

  • English required
  • German highly advantageous

Location

Berlin preferred
(hybrid working arrangement). Proximity to technical teams is a strong advantage.
