iconomy is a Berlin-based boutique consultancy that grew out of the Innovate Europe Foundation to support Europe's startup and scale-up ecosystems. The position
We are looking for an organized and passionate
Community Building Manager
to lead and manage our community initiatives and programs. In this role, you will coordinate existing programs while also innovating and testing new approaches to strengthen our community-building efforts.
You'll also work alongside other team members in our
Tech Policy
practice, whose work informs our community building tactics. For our work at iconomy, community building enables us to foster meaningful relationships and shared narratives that drive social and political change. Unlike traditional public relations or marketing, which often focus on broad outreach, community building prioritises trust, collaboration, and sustained engagement among stakeholders. This approach is particularly valuable in navigating complex policy landscapes, where understanding cultural nuances and positioning stakeholders as contributors - rather than mere participants - can be the key to impactful change.
In this role, you'll have a chance to be the ultimate connector, whilst learning more about the latest innovative tech that is shaping the world for the better.
As part of a dynamic, culture-first team, you will work on multiple projects with various stakeholders simultaneously. You should be comfortable in a central supporting role, taking ownership of tasks and proactively driving initiatives forward. The ideal candidate has a strong background in community engagement, a passion for networking, and the ability to design and maintain engaging outreach programs.
What you'll do on a typical day:
- Support the Community Building
team
in aligning objectives with effective community-building strategies. - Coordinate outreach communications
, manage stakeholder databases, and plan community engagement initiatives. - Co-develop and execute community activities and events
, bringing creativity and strategic thinking to the logistics and programming. - Maintain an overview of iconomy's own partners and networks
, making sure they are empowered for collective action, aware of our current work and goals
Key Responsibilities:
When we host events or organize a community initiatives, you should be comfortable with the following:
- Stakeholder Management:
Serve as the trusted point of contact for partners, clients, community members or event attendees. - Community Engagement
: Actively connect, network, and engage with others, fostering enthusiasm and active participation - Communication:
Craft compelling written content to support our outreach to our different target audiences, from informal invitations to formal letters - Event Management:
Plan and execute events ranging from large public events to small, invitation-only roundtables
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree
, or
3+ years of experience
in a similar role - Strong interest in current
policy and/or technology
topics - Native German speaker and fluent English
(spoken and written) - Advanced skills with the main social media platforms and website management (LinkedIn, Squarespace, email campaign tools)
- Experience in event management and production
Additional Qualifications that You could bring to the team (Nice to Have):
- Proficiency in additional languages (our team values diverse cultural perspectives).
- Experience working with professionals across various disciplines (e.g., law, engineering, media, coworking).
- Familiarity with common office tools such as Google Workspace or MacOS (Docs, Sheets, Slides).
- Passion for entrepreneurs, startups or technology, and the transformative potential of the digital economy
