Centrica Energy is looking for a skilled Legal Counsel to join our dedicated team on our journey towards a better and more sustainable future. If you have a law degree, are fluent in German and would like to make your contribution to the future in energy now is your chance.

**The role**

The purpose of the role is to provide legal support primarily for the German part of our business and management of matters for the German and Austrian PPA/asset management business of Centrica Energy. You will have a variety of responsibilities including:

- Providing strategic legal advice to the business to assist with the negotiation of agreements with a focus on German renewables
- Participate in project groups / work groups giving legal advice and assessments
- Working as part of project teams either for transactional work or to help implement new processes, products and systems such as approving new strategic business initiatives, new products and entry into new geographical jurisdictions
- Contract drafting and negotiation in co-operation with the business
- Working with Contract Management team and Credit team regarding standardized contracts
- Assessing applicable forthcoming legislation changes (in conjunction with Regulatory Affairs and Compliance as appropriate) and advising Centrica Energy on potential impact
- Contributing to various initiatives within Centrica Energy and Centrica Group legal teams
- Instructing and working with external counsel
- Managing Centrica's overall legal risk position by ensuring that contracts reflect best practice

**About you**

You can come from a number of different backgrounds but this role requires that you:

- Have a law degree from a European country
- Speak and write German and English fluently and effortlessly
- Have experience working as a legal counsel/attorney or similar
- Have experience drafting contracts

It would be an advantage but not a requirement if your experience includes working with energy law and:

- Negotiation of trading (trading related) agreements
- Co-ordination of the development and administration of large and complex legal/commercial matters, and securing appropriate input from multiple stakeholders and sources
- A professional awareness of legal developments affecting the energy industry, compliance issues and future trends within that industry

Depending on your specialties and interests this role could include working across European markets and on other international markets in the future.
