Associate Director, Medical Operations & Diagnostics Lead

The Associate Director, Medical Operations & Diagnostics Lead, is a resource within the Northern Europe Regional Medical Affairs group with a dual role. The NER MO&DL NER MO&DL leverages its expertise in rare diseases and diagnostics to drive patient screening initiatives and other strategic initiatives across all programs of the PTC portfolio to ensure pipeline readiness within Northern Europe. The MO&DL liaises with key NER stakeholders to drive Local-Regional-Global communication. In addition, the NER MO&DL can provide project management support to key local initiatives within his/hers objectives.

The NER MO&DL is an integral part of the team who oversees all aspects of projects within his/hers responsibility and can communicate clearly and efficiently (in scientific terms when and where needed) with all internal and external stakeholders to best complement the team. The incumbent works cross-functionally with internal departments and external resources in alignment with the overall strategic and operational goals of Regional/Local Northern Europe Medical Affairs teams.

**Job Description**:
Responsibilities of the Role Include:

- Foster collaboration, communicate knowledge, enable innovative processes, activate best practices across geographies and therapeutic areas Plan, execute and monitor projects efficiently from start to completion.
- Ensure coordination with MSLs in the region to convey Global messaging pre-launch on pipeline products
- Be a resource for data, patient diagnostic expertise and best practices to identify opportunities and implement informed strategies to support patient screening initiatives and support the recruitment of patients at study sites
- Lead regional/local diagnostic/screening initiatives by being an integral part of the team and communicating clearly and efficiently (in scientific terms when and where needed) with all internal and external stakeholders
- Identify diagnostic gaps and opportunities for improvement in diagnostic workup (e.g. genetic panel composition.
- Supports the elevation of topics for scientific publications regarding screening of at-risk populations
- Identify opportunities and challenges put forward within the context of AGILE review meetings and action appropriate next steps within the cross functional NER team
- Performs other tasks and assignments as needed and specified by management.

Requirements for the Role Include:

- Advanced academic degree in a scientific discipline with a focus on genetics or genomics (at a minimum a bachelor’s degree, PhD preferred)
- A minimum of 4 years progressively responsible experience in a pharmaceutical, biotechnology, healthcare or related environment.
- Relevant experience in rare disease and/or gene therapy encompassing patient identification and establishment of KOL networks is highly desirable
- Direct and demonstrated project management experience
- Background and understanding of the pharmaceutical, biotechnology or related environment
- Understanding of biochemical and molecular diagnostic methods.
- Experience working with KOLs, clinicians, HCPs, payors and/or academic institutions establishing/maintaining relationships and scientific/medical credibility.
- Demonstrated success in interpreting scientific data and presenting research information to scientists and HCPs
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent verbal and written communication and skills (PowerPoint)
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, as required, in a fast-paced, matrixed, team environment consisting of internal and external team members.
- Analytical thinker with excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
- Track record in working with regional/local genetic databanks.
- Understanding of regional/country-specific regulatory requirements for bio-sample shipping and analysis.
- Experience supporting an orphan, rare disease and/or specialized drug(s).
