Research Assistant (m/w/d) Safety of Electric Vehicles

Safe and sustainable solutions for current and future mobility are the focus of research at the CARISSMA Institute of Electric, COnnected and Secure Mobility (C-ECOS). To address this challenge, C-ECOS works with an interdisciplinary team from electrical engineering, computer science, mechanical engineering and chemistry together with national and international partners from industry and academia on innovative concepts. The focus is not only on road transport (passenger cars, commercial vehicles, motorcycles, micromobility) and the associated infrastructure, but also on aviation and shipping.

Your tasks
- Coordination and implementation of the CRAVE project and other research projects in the field of battery safety
- Analysis of loads in the event of a crash and definition of structural requirements
- Design of safety requirements and definition of safety concepts for risk minimization
- Research and validation of safety mechanisms to reduce the fire risk of electric vehicles involved in accidents
- Development, testing and validation of adaptive safety systems and methods to improve the deformation behavior of battery systems
- Publications in scientific journals as well as continuous coordination with the project partners, ensuring the correct use of funding and reporting
- Representation of the project, especially at international scientific meetings and workshops
- Financial and resource planning, project controlling including monitoring of set milestones and work packages

**Profile**:

- You have a scientific university degree in engineering or natural sciences or a comparable degree
- experience in..... in the fields of
- Ideally, you have initial experience in energy storage and fire testing, crash testing or another area of passive vehicle safety
- You have a practical, hands-on approach as well as a theoretically sound thorough working style
- Experience in the fire department, THW or similar organizations is an advantage
- Initial experience in the field of vehicle design
- Experience in working with CAD systems
- Basic programming knowledge in e.g. Matlab, Labview or similar
