The Faculty of Science, Department of Physics, Integrated Quantum Optics Group,
seeks to appoint a

**Researcher/PhD student (f/m/d)**
(pay scale TV-L 13)
- The position (75 % of regular working time) entails a fixed term contract for the dura
tion of the PhD project and is initially limited to three years, depending on the previous
- qualification (according to the German law “Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz”)**Duties and responsibilities**
Universal quantum simulators offer means to realize any quantum-physical process.
- Quantum walks present one possibility to realize such a universal simulation
- platform, allowing for investigating the dynamics of complex and open quantum
- systems, such as transport and localization phenomena.- time-multiplexed quantum walks in optical interferometers with a single photon and
- many photons. By employing custom-made sources of nonclassical light and fast
switching electro-optic modulators, dynamically reconfigurable networks shall be
- implemented for studying new quantum-interference and correlation effects in the
- evolution of quantum walkers in large networks. This facilitates answering open
- questions in fields ranging from fundamental to applied sciences.- Silberhorn, bringing together dedicated PhD students and experienced postdocs,
- and will collaborate with partners from across Europe and beyond. Participation in
- teaching is connected with the position.**Essential requirements**
The applicant must hold a completed university degree in physics.
- Experience in the following areas is highly beneficial- Quantum walks and their optical implementation
- Quantum physics and quantum optics
- Theory, simulation, and experiments of (time-)multiplexed quantum walks
- Single-photon sources
