With the **Institute for Photonic Quantum Systems (PhoQS),** Paderborn University aims
to establish an international research center in the field of photonic quantum technologies.

The position is embedded in the thriving research infrastructure of the Integrated Quantum
Optics group, which itself is part of the PhoQS. Employment is initially fixed to three years
and adheres to the legal regulations laid out in the WissZeitVG.
Specifically, we are looking for a person to **extend our research in large-scale photonic**
**quantum systems to include integrated spatial interferometers**. Fully controllable und
reconfigurable quantum networks based on integrated beam splitters and phase shifters
the effects that arise when increasing the number of input photons. Academic duties for
PhD students include, for example:
- calibration and verification of a photonic processor based on integrated photon
- ics
- study of the scaling behaviour of quantum systems in large reconfigurable sys
- extension of our theoretical understanding of large photonic quantum systems
- day-to-day supervision of Master and Bachelor students- quantum optics
- integrated optics
- photon counting
