Senior Legal Counsel

The position

We are looking for a Senior Legal Counsel for the HBK Legal Team.

The HBK Legal team supports all HBK business functions in achieving their strategic objectives and operational targets while ensuring that all applicable external regulation as well as internal guidelines are met, is giving advice on internal projects, is involved in negotiatations with third parties such as clients, suppliers or authorities across all relevant fields of law and in multiple jurisdictions.

Regionally, the coverage for commercial legal advice will encompass EMEA issues especially in DACH and Nordic countries, others, such as protection of Intellectual Property will be organized globally by you as our new team member, working closely with our sales and trade compliance team.

Primary responsibilities

Together with the HBK Legal team you will be responsible for legal advice on commercial issues, applicable laws and internal policies and you will train others in the relevant procedures.

The role:
Advice, contract negotiations and contract management in multiple jurisdictions for procurement, sales & IP protection
- Collaborate with the HBK’s legal team and local contacts, including our internal Business Units and Functions as well as external partners and customers to develop and drive alignment of business needs with customer’s interest in a favourable way and compliant with applicable laws and internal policies
- Assist in corporate processes and implementation of strategic projects
- Drive our strategy for Intellectual Property Protection
- Relationship management with external legal advisors in non
- core jurisdictions
- Support and advice Senior Management
- Take an active role in the continuous improvement, best practices and standardisation
- Work closely with other members of the Legal team in APAC, Europe and US and support our common approach across Business Units and central functions alike.

Training & Monitoring
- Facilitate and carry out trainings to the relevant personnel
- Provide insights and advice to the relevant teams on issues regarding privacy regulations or information security and the required implementations
- Assist in ensuring compliance with, amongst others, national and international anti-bribery and corruption laws and regulations and help promote good conduct throughout the company
- Ensure that issues requiring escalation to the HBK General Counsel and Legal departmet at Spectris, as appropriate, are communicated

Professional qualifications

What you need to make the difference is passion for in -house counselling. We are also looking for:

- Successful bar exam (2nd legal state exam in Germany) with at least a “satisfactory” result
- Additional master’s degree or legal specialization welcome
- 5+ years’ relevant professional experience, at least two as in-house counsel in a company with a substantial footprint in technology or software development
- Detailed operational knowledge of intellectual property protection is a plus
- Extensive knowledge of commercial law and solid know-how regarding software development, licensing ageements and privacy regulations
- Experience with government contracts, tenders and research collaborations
- Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills with the ability to communicate and interact at all levels and support decision making based on credible knowledge
