2d Game Background Artist

As a **2D Game BAckground Artist **at SOFTGAMES you will be part of an agile team. You will work closely with a game designer, producer, other artist(s) as well as a team of developers on a new **Casual Mobile title**.

A 2D Background Artist your work plays a crucial role in bringing animated worlds to life by creating detailed and visually appealing indoor environments. This position requires a keen eye for design, perspective, and color, with a strong ability to capture the atmosphere and style of different interior spaces, from cozy homes to grand architectural settings. The artist will collaborate closely with the Game team to ensure the backgrounds enhance the narrative and align with the overall visual aesthetic of the project.

This is a REMOTE postion.

**Your role**:

- Design and create visually appealing 2D indoor and outdoor environments for story scenes.
- Bring the 2D environment to life with a variety of scene objects and props
- Ensure consistency in visual style and maintain high detail and polish in all backgrounds.
- Collaborate with game designers and narrative designers to align all graphical elements with the game vision.
- Optimize graphical assets for performance while retaining visual quality.
- Iterate on feedback to improve and refine background artwork.
- Demonstrate creativity and adaptability in various visual styles.

**Your profile**:

- Proven experience as a 2D Game Artist, focusing on background environments and scene objects.
- Strong portfolio showcasing 2D backgrounds (interior & exterior) for games.
- Proficiency in digital painting software (e.g., Photoshop, Illustrator).
- Solid understanding of color theory, perspective, and composition.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work efficiently.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team.
- Plus: proficiency with animation (Spine, Unity, etc)
