Esg Models- Country Risk Specialist

**Your team responsibilities**

The ESG R&D team is looking for a detail-oriented researcher focused on developing new models and methodologies to evaluate country ESG risks and sustainable impact. MSCI ESG Research adds value to financial markets by transforming unstructured and inconsistently reported ESG data into insights that inform better investment decisions. The role will span environmental, social and governance datasets, including company-reported information and alternative sources, with a particular focus on country-level data underlying MSCI ESG Ratings.

**Your key responsibilities**
- Design and develop quantitative models and analytical frameworks for measuring sovereign and sub-sovereign ESG risks based on regulatory and other alternative datasets
- Develop methodologies that measure company-level exposure to ESG risks and opportunities using production and business segment data
- Monitor and incorporate emerging ESG issues and sustainability standards to help execute best practices in data and rating governance process; and devise the best ESG solutions for our clients

**Your skills and experience that will help you excel**
- Experience working on building analytical frameworks, credit ratings/ rankings of companies or countries, and developing scorecards using large macro-economic data sets (for example: United Nations, World Bank, Eurostat, etc.)
- Demonstrated ability in quantitative modelling or statistical analysis particularly Python and MS Excel
- Advanced educational background and experience in the fields of climate, economics, finance, sustainability, or credit ratings
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work as part of a multi-cultural and geographically distributed team
