**Duties**:
Incumbent analyzes and reports on political and economic developments in the consular district of Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, and Thuringia. S/he performs analytic reporting on all aspects of German foreign policy and relations, with a special focus on its impact on U.S. interests. S/he contributes to Mission Germany reporting on extremism, human rights, trafficking in persons, religious freedom, and refugees. S/he establishes and maintains contacts with regional and municipal government officials, parliamentary staffers, and foreign/economic policy establishment (academia, institutes, chambers of commerce, etc.). S/he assists in arranging appointments for the Consul General and visiting officials, accompanying them and acting as an interpreter when required. Incumbent works independently on his/her own initiative and coordinates reporting and analysis with Embassy Berlin and Mission Germany Consulate Political-Economic staff.
**Qualifications and Evaluations**:
- Requirements:
Three years’ work experience in social science research, political analysis, or political reporting is required.
- Education Requirements:
University degree (Bachelor) in Political Science, History, International Relations, European Studies, or Economics or local equivalent is required.
- Evaluations:
Position requires fluent language skills in English (reading/writing/speaking).
Position requires fluent language skills in German (reading/writing/speaking).
- Must be able to draft documents, e.g. reports, analytical documents, official correspondence, etc.
- Must have proven research skills.

The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.
