Research Associate (f/m/d) RNA Biology

Full-time and permanent

Your key responsibilities:

- Support and drive the implementation and development of scientific methods to investigate the biology of RNA molecules - with a focus on the identification and characterization of RNA and RNA-protein interactions (e.g., RNA pull-down and protection assay, EMSA, Northern blot).
- Provide general scientific expertise in at least two of the following areas, biochemistry (e.g., Western blot, ELISA), molecular biology (e.g., PCR, RT-qPCR), and biophysics (e.g., fluorescence-based, MS) to support and complement the needs of the team and the projects.
- Implement labelling/tagging of RNA molecules and/or cross-linking of RNA-protein for further downstream biophysical investigation (e.g., MST, SPR, MS), and aim towards the optimization of such techniques to improve their quality.
- Contribute to projects and, in perspective, also lead projects/sub-projects that employ these technologies to develop small molecule drugs that target RNA molecules.
- Provide and communicate high-quality data on time and document results as requested by Evotec and our external collaborators.

Your ideal qualifications:

- Completed Ph.D. in Life Sciences or similar, have ideally gained first post-doctoral or industrial experience and possess hands-on experience in at least two of the following fields: biochemistry, molecular biology, and biophysics.
- Hands-on experience with cell culture and cellular assays to study the biology of nucleic acid and the effect of their manipulation (e.g., reporter assays, ASO or siRNA approaches and mutagenesis) is an asset.
- Experience with sample preparation for downstream biophysical methods (e.g., SPR, MST and MS) is highly beneficial.
- Excellent organizational, team-player, collaborative, helpful and reliable.
- Fluent command of the English language, knowledge of German is a plus.
