Safety and Occupational Health Specialist

**Duties**:
- Serves as the Safety and Occupational Health Manager responsibility for planning, managing, and administering a safety and occupational health program.
- Responsible for development, organization, execution, and assessment of the Tactical Safety Program.
- Serves as the Brigade Commander?s technical expert to identify, analyze, and provide risk management control measures for life-threatening hazards.
- Provides technical advice to the Brigade Commander in the development of local guidelines, policies, procedures, and courses of action for safety.
- Develops Area of Operations safety policies, procedures, plans, and regulations to ensure compliance with applicable host nation/foreign military personnel and civilians when in a deployed status.
- Assures proper accident notification and investigation procedures are followed.
- Establishes a schedule for and conducts compliance inspections and surveys of ranges, organizations, operations, facilities, and equipment to identify operational, facility, and systemic safety and health deficiencies.
- Designs training, develops schedules, and coordinates and conducts safety briefings, trainings, and professional development classes for senior and junior leaders within the command and subordinate organizations.

- Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
- In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a TOP SECRET security clearance based on a single scope background investigation (SSBI) with eligibility for sensitive compartmented information (SCI).
- May be required to perform Temporary Duty (TDY) travel up to 10% of the time on an annual basis.

**Additional information**:

- The initial length of this overseas tour is 3 years.
- On this overseas accompanied tour, medical and DoDDS special education services may not be available in the immediate location of this position.
- If an employee brings a child to an overseas location and that child is entitled to attend a DoD school on a space-required basis in accordance with DoDEA Regulation 1342.13, the DoDEA and the Military Department responsible for providing related services will ensure that the child, if eligible for special education, receives a free appropriate public education, including related services pursuant to DoDI 1342.12 and DoDM 1342.12.
- If an employee brings an infant or toddler (up to 3 years of age) to an overseas location, and that infant or toddler, but for the child's age, is entitled to attend the DoDEA on a space-required basis in accordance with DoDEA Regulation 1342.13, then the Military Department responsible for Early Intervention Services (EIS) will provide the infant or toddler with the required EIS in accordance with the eligibility criteria consistent with DoDI1342.12 and DoDM 1342.12.
- Employees (and family members) who require medical or dental care in the overseas location will be responsible for obtaining and paying for such care. Access for civilian employees and their families to military medical and dental treatment facilities is on a space-available and reimbursable basis only.
