Senior Academic Researcher

**Senior Academic Researcher (all genders)**:
**We are looking for a Senior Academic Researcher to join our team in Berlin.** Changing the way language learning is done is a great opportunity for passionate researchers. In this role you will be responsible for partnering with both internal research teams and external research institutions to conduct empirical and theoretical studies examining the learning outcomes of Babbel users in order to strengthen our didactic and pedagogical approaches as well as provide critical insights to drive product innovation.

**You will**:

- Collaborate with Babbel’s cross-functional research teams and also independently manage academic research projects and partnerships
- Plan, monitor, control, coordinate, and close research projects with academic partners
- Monitor the research landscape and scout new academic research partnerships and project
- Manage existing partnerships with research partners and have regular exchange sessions to generate new ideas
- Promote the presence of Babbel in academic and technology fora
- Attend academic conferences, provide presentations, and enable researchers to use Babbel’s technology in their research
- Develop and maintain strong, productive relationships with academic staff and researchers, as well as internal stakeholders
- Work together with various departments within Babbel, including the Product & Engineering organization, to match internal research demands with the academic partner network
- Translate the findings of academic studies into actionable insights for the product teams
- Be an initiator of new research projects aligned with strategic opportunities

**You are**:

- A team player who is able to collaborate, partner, and work effectively and smoothly in a multicultural and diverse organization
- Comfortable presenting scientific research to both specialist and lay audiences
- Both pragmatic and visionary, knowing when to leverage each based on the research stage and goal
- Experienced with both qualitative and quantitative research methods

**You have**:

- Advanced degree in linguistics, cognitive science, learning design, psychology, computer-human interaction, or related field (ideally a PhD)
- Experience with the academic conference and publication landscape
- Publication history in peer-reviewed journals (additional experience writing for non-academic audiences is a plus)
- Existing network in academia
- Excellent presentation and communication skills in English (other languages are a plus)
