Change.org is searching for a Lead Campaigner in Germany. This exciting role mixes digital campaigning, storytelling, customer support and engagement tactics to advise hundreds of users on how to win their campaigns.
We’re a social impact business (a public benefit company), and the world's largest non-profit owned tech platform focused on civic action with 80m monthly users, 50,000 campaigns launched on the site every month, and a revenue model that has grown by 500% in 2 years. We’re growing quickly, and our users win campaigns for change once every hour. From strengthening hate crime legislation in South Africa; calling for Racial Justice in the US; fighting corruption in Indonesia, Italy, and Brazil; to fighting violence against women in India.
Ideally, you will be based out of Berlin and report to the Regional Managing Director, and be part of the global campaigns team based in countries around the world. During these current times, we are working remotely for the foreseeable future, with flexibility for staff who have specific requirements.
**Main responsibilities**:
- In collaboration with the regional lead, **adapting the global campaign support strategy and OKRs to the national context in Germany** to best support users on our platform to drive growth, impact and sustainability and foster a culture of learning, collaboration and innovation in the team.
- In collaboration with the rest of the team in Germany,* finding big-relevant-viral petitions both organically created and by reaching out to communities* working on social issues who may be unaware of the potential of using Change.org.
- **Identify compelling petitions started on Change.org in Germany and support the organizers to optimize their petition text, implement smart tactics **(from storytelling and social distribution to media and decision maker outreach.), **amplify these petitions to reach millions of potential supporters on Change.org and keep the pressure up until victory.**:
- **Building** engaged supporter groups on Change.org to strengthen platform engagement and maximize support for as many petitions as possible.
- Setting up or participating in **innovative and discovery processes** that help learn and better understand how and what drives the **impact of organizers on the platform**:
- **Maintaining external relations that directly improve the support we provide to campaign organizers **across civil society, business, government, media, social influencers
- **Act as spokesperson for Change.org campaigns and the Change.org brand if necessary, collaborating with the communications and policy department.**:
- You will be managing a small team of campaigners that will grow over time.
**Key Qualifications and Requirements**
- You have several years of experience (4-6 years) of **grassroots campaigning or with advocacy NGOs or journalism**, and come with innovative ideas to win campaigns and scale impact.
- You thrive on social media and **have your finger on the pulse of what Germany is talking about online, in politics, and traditional media. **You know how to make your content pop in a busy social feed.
- You are great at **identifying stories/issues that may be compelling for a huge amount of people and drive the social and political agenda in Germany.**:
- You have a **good understanding of Germany’s current social justice, economic, political and environmental issues.** You also have a strong network in the activist/social change/civic tech space in Germany.
- You can write newsletters that can inspire and move people to action. You've got a strong sense of narrative and user experience, and **you can turn out compelling copy at short notice.**:
- Insightful understanding of messaging and framing, and the judgment to repeatedly find the right message to engage Change.org users, decision makers, journalists and other stakeholders.
- You are data savvy and are able to work across formats with segmentation, analysis and reporting, in collaboration with analytics and strategy experts.
