- The Faculty of Biology, Department of Behavioural Ecology, has the following job opening:

- The Department of Behavioural Ecology studies behavioural interactions between individuals in relation to ecological influences, in particular the function and mechanism of chemical communication, the impact of skin bacteria on body odor, the function of preen oil of birds, behavioural adaptation to human-induced environmental changes, causes and consequences of individual variation in the gut microbiome, and niche choice and conformance to the environment. The species we are studying are mainly vertebrates such as passerines (_Taeniopygia guttata, Parus major, Cyanistes caeruleus, Charadriidae_), salamanders (_Salamandra salamandra_), bats (_Saccopteryx bilineata_) and various lizzard species. The working group is international and the working language is English.- Your Tasks
- Research tasks (100 %):

- conducting behavioural and physiological experiments on captive zebra finches
- employing multi-omic analyses, including transcriptomics and microbiome profiling
- analyzing data and preparing high-quality research publications
- presenting research findings at national and international conferences

- Your Profile
We expect
- completed scientific university degree (e. g. Master or equivalent) in Biology, Ecology, Animal Behaviour or any related field
- strong interest in behavioural ecology and molecular biology
- experience with data analysis, preferably with the software R
- very good written and spoken English language skills
- high level of organizational and communication skills
- independent, self-reliant and dedicated style of work
- very high motivation willingness and ability to work in an international and multidisciplinary research team- Preferred experience and skills
- experience with molecular techniques and/or behavioural experiments
- publications in international journals
- experience in working with animals and/or proven attendance of an animal experimentation course (e. g. Felasa or similar)
