The sub-project is being carried out in close cooperation with Dr René Tuma (TU Berlin), who is researching video recordings of interrogations as part of the project network. The sub-project on bodycams, which is based at Bielefeld University, is concerned with the role of body cameras worn by police officers who make video recordings of police interactions with citizens on an ad hoc basis. In the sub-project, we ask ourselves what role the bodycam plays in the everyday life of police officers, how it is used and which (especially external) persons have access to the recordings. At the same time, we want to analyse whether and how bodycam videos are or can be part of police training or further education practices. In order to answer these questions, we will conduct empirical research on the dissemination and everyday use of bodycams by the police in Germany (in particular ethnographies and guided interviews) and analyse bodycam recordings, informed by the findings of visual sociology and based on videographic methods.- Your Tasks - collecting and analysing empirical data on bodycam use by the police in Germany (incl. video analysis) (40 %) - writing up the (interim) results and preparation of corresponding publications (20 %) - survey and analysis of the discourse of police supervisory authorities, non-governmental organisations and organisations and civil rights groups on the role of police bodycam videos and their accessibility (15 %) - preparation and presentation of (interim) results at national and international meetings and conferences (15 %) - regular preparation and presentation of the (interim) results at meetings of the international of the international project network (5 %) - close exchange with the team in the sub-project on video recordings of interrogations at the TU Berlin (Head: Dr. René Tuma) (5 %) The employment is conducive to scientific qualification.
