**Assistant Vice President, Operations Europe**

University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) seeks an experienced, inspirational, servant leader as Assistant Vice President, Operations Europe (AVP). The new AVP will support the design and then help to lead the next generation wrap-around student services ecosystem, for all of the populations we serve.

With a bias for getting things done, the AVP will be laser-focused on the elements of all UMGC enrollment management, student retention, class scheduling, and the entirety of the student experience. The AVP will support student success and persistence, focusing particularly on immediate awareness and real-time interventions for struggling students through driving more cohesive practices around the globe. The AVP will honor the tradition of an in-person classroom environment while building towards the increasing demand for more online and hybrid student experiences. A spirit of collegiality, camaraderie, and collaboration is also of significant importance in this role.

**Position located in Kaiserslautern, Germany and requires up to 30% travel**

This AVP will lead teams in creating exceptional student experiences across myriad modalities for a global student population, and be accountable for the following operational scope of responsibility:

- Directly supervise, coach, and develop staff including Regional Directors, Associate/Assistant Directors, Program Managers, and individual contributor-level staff
- Encourage and support a strong staff and faculty working relationship to best support students and their academic goals in each of the regions
- Collaborate with peers and colleagues, within departments in their own division, and at the other UMGC campuses to achieve our One Global University vision and share best practices
- Spearhead events and initiatives that communicate our value proposition and drive student recruitment and retention
- Interpret dashboard data/analytics to evaluate the effectiveness of current/future business practices and create strategies and forecasts
- Ensure academic programs maintain the highest quality and content integrity, and support the overall UMGC mission, goals, and strategic direction
- Drive a well-defined enrollment management and growth strategy, working with field leaders to increase student persistence and degree progression through multiple, student-focused initiatives
- Collaborate with the Office of Academic Affairs regarding course scheduling, curriculum alignment, and faculty affairs
- Manage the annual academic year course schedule and the term-based academic schedule, working closely with Regional Directors in the field, and other key stakeholders to ensure the schedule is uploaded in a timely, efficient manner to maximize visibility
- Provide guidance and direction for UMGC national testing centers and academic advising, promoting a “one team” dynamic
- Assist with class scheduling and coordination of class formats including on-site, hybrid, virtual, livestreaming, and more as needed
- Other job-related duties as assigned

**Required education & experience**:An earned Master's degree from an accredited institution of higher learning or foreign degree equivalent; at least seven (7) years in operations leadership with a large geographically dispersed workforce; proven track record of leadership skills including coaching, developing, training, and leading high-performing teams; ability to analyze and interpret data to drive problem solving and decision making; strong written and verbal communications skills; knowledge of the military lifestyle and/or a higher education work environment; and the ability to pass a U.S. background check.
