**About the Project**:
Frankfurt Zoological Society (FZS) is an internationally wildlife conservation organisation based in Germany that has supported wildlife conservation projects in Africa, South America, South East Asia and Europe for many decades. Following our mission to conserve wildlife and ecosystems we focus on protected areas and outstanding wild places in wider landscapes. We work partner with national and local government authorities, local communities and other NGOs communities.

Within Africa we currently support nine landscapes in six countries and are ambitiously aiming to double our impact over this decade. In Africa, we will secure and extend impact in our current landscapes and expand into new landscapes. A key landscape to increase investment is the Lomami National Park (PNL), set up in 2016, which is the youngest national park in the Democratic Republic of Congo and relatively undeveloped. The park was created with the cooperation of the local communities. The region is a high biodiversity and relative pristine wilderness forest area of global importance, home to bonobos, forest elephants, three pangolin species, at least two species of monkey new to science, as well as important populations of okapi, Congo peafowl and other endemic and rare species. FZS has entered a co-management agreement with ICCN (Institute Congolais for Conservation of Nature) which unifies all staff into a single management team under the direction of the ICCN/FZS Site Director/ Landscape Manager. This is an exciting opportunity to drive the development of sustainable financing for this landscape and make a real contribution to the long-term conservation of one of the world’s few remaining outstanding wild places.

**Your Tasks**:

- Working in close support and collaboration with the LNP Site Director and other senior staff, to provide strategic input to the programme, evaluate and review strategies and management plans for the LNP and wider Lomami landscape, and identify gaps in financing.
- For existing and new donors, coordinate activities implemented under different park departments and ensure programme compliance with FZS and donor requirements for procurement, financial and narrative reporting in a timely fashion
- Review and develop other financing opportunities for LNP and the wider Lomami landscape, including nature-based financing (carbon, hydrology, biodiversity) and financing through tourism development
- In collaboration with the LNP Site Director, Regional Conservation and Africa Director, establish and build strategic international donor partnerships that will strengthen effectiveness of conservation impact.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of a strategy to develop tourism in LNP and buffer zone
- Ensure effective two-way information flow on all issues between site level, FZS HQ/Africa Department and donors

**Your Profile**:

- An M.Sc. or higher degree and at least 8 years practical experience in conservation, natural resource management and/or development with natural resource focus preferably in Africa,
- At least 5-years’ experience managing and compliance of bilateral donor’s (e.g. EU, KfW, USAID) procurement regulation and financial reporting requirements, financial audits and internal and external evaluations.
- Experience with tourism development as a sustainable financing mechanism
- Experience with development of nature based financing initiatives including carbon and biodiversity credits etc. (Desired)
- Experience developing and maintaining a diversity of donor and international partnerships, ideally including bilateral and philanthropic donors
- Proven experience in developing project design and fundraising with private, NGO and bilateral donors
- Credibility and intellectual stature to gain the trust and collaborate effectively with colleagues, donors, other partners and stakeholders
- Exceptional writing and presentation skills bilingually in both French and English essential (competency in Kiswahili and German an advantage)
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication abilities, including excellent writing, verbal and listening skills and team communication and training. Demonstrated capacity to share knowledge within teams and wider programme
- Proven team-building skills and experience in an international and cross-cultural team
- Willingness and ability to live in Kindu, Maniema Province, DR Congo and to travel nationally.
