In the Division of Plant Nutrition and Crop Physiology, Department of Crop Sciences of the Georg-August University Göttingen, Foundation under public law, the following position is available at the earliest possible opportunity

**Research Associate**

65 % part-time of the regular weekly working hours (currently 25.87 hours/week) for a limited period of four years. Remuneration will be paid according to
**pay group 13 TV-L **. The position is embedded in the BLE-funded joint project MinDen (Measures to reduce direct and indirect climate-relevant emissions that result from denitrification in agricultural soils), in which 7 research partners are cooperating supraregionally to evaluate and further develop practical measures to reduce denitrification-borne nitrous oxide emissions and improve nitrogen fertiliser use efficiency. A particular focus of the position is on measures to increase the efficiency in the use of organic fertilisers. The position offers the opportunity to do a doctorate.

**Your tasks**:

- Planning, implementation and evaluation of field, greenhouse and laboratory studies on greenhouse gas mitigation measures for mineral and organic fertilisation,
- Jointly improve an existing measurement system to assess N2O and N2 gas emissions in field and mesocosm situations,
- Stable isotope and trace gas analysis in the laboratory,
- Evaluation and interpretation of gas flow data,
- Preparation of scientific papers for international journals and conferences.

**Your profile**:

- Successfully completed studies in agricultural sciences or related disciplines with a Master of Science (MSc.) degree,
- Good knowledge of the nutritional physiology of plants and microbial conversion processes of organic residues and plant nutrients in soils,
- Very good knowledge of the English language in written and spoken form,
- Good knowledge of statistical packages, preferably R,
- Class B driving licence.
