Senior Applied Scientist

This involves designing, building, and optimizing end-to-end deep learning pipelines, which include data preprocessing, model training, evaluation, and deployment.

Bring in your extensive research experience in developing, evaluating, and deploying efficient Deep Learning solutions to help our customers make better sense out of confusing sizing systems.
Design, scale, and deploy Deep Learning models capable of delivering accurate real-time predictions. Take ownership of the models post-deployment.
Propose, lead, and build bold initiatives with the ownership from development to deployment.
Forge close partnerships with applied science leaders and product managers, and other business stakeholders to deliver state-of-the-art deep learning solutions to our customers and uncover new opportunities for growth.
Contribute to our scientific endeavours through external publications in top-tier journals and conferences.
Act as a mentor to junior scientists, foster collaboration with other teams, and actively share knowledge and expertise within Zalando’s science community.
WE’D LOVE TO MEET YOU IF
You have a Ph.D or M.Sc. in the field of Computer Science, Machine Learning, Computer Vision, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field.
Extensive track record of addressing real-world problems using deep learning throughout the entire product cycle.
In-depth experiences in deep learning, hands-on experience with large scale transformers.
Strong coding skills, with proficiency in Python and PyTorch.
Experience implementing scalable deep learning pipelines and executing complex experiments involving datasets.
Experience in deploying production-ready solutions.
A strong motivation to collaborate with cross-functional product, science, and engineering teams to solve business problems through scientific solutions. OUR OFFER

ABOUT SIZE & FIT
At Zalando, we deeply understand that Size Matters. We are excited to use our unique and large article and customer datasets to tackle this challenge using ML and Computer Vision techniques. How about you; would you like to bring in your skills to shape a great experience for your family and friends when buying clothes and shoes online?
You will join our multidisciplinary Zurich & Berlin-based Size and Fit Team, composed of machine learning / computer vision / deep learning researchers, software engineers, and full stack developers from 20+ different nationalities. We provide recommendations and predictions on customer size and fit choices and conduct focused experiments using emerging technologies to solve the challenges.
You will take on this complex and important topic working side by side with our Product Specialists and Applied Scientists. We have great problems to solve, a huge customer base to impact and are a team that loves to have fun. Size and Fit is a human topic. We use machines to help solve our customers’ challenges. But we never forget - size and fit success is defined by how customers feel when they wear fashion.
