Mechanical & Electrical Materials Buyer

The opportunity has arisen to join an industry leader in UK’s & Ireland’s Building Services sector. Alternative Heat design, develop and deliver a wide range of offsite-prefabricated, innovative, and sustainable building service solutions throughout the UK & Europe.

We specialise in the design, supply, and installation of a wide range of prefabricated energy solutions, typically built in NI and shipped throughout the UK & Europe. We also offer turnkey design, build, and operate solutions for commercial energy centres and large-scale district heating solutions and have experience with successfully procuring and delivering many similar packages to a wide range of public bodies throughout UK & Europe.

We have an excellent opportunity for a Materials buyer to assist in the procurement of all Mechanical & Electrical material for many live projects. You will work closely with various departments in ensuring the smooth transition of all material ordering from Technical Approval to final stages of invoicing

**Job Title** | **Mechanical & Electrical Materials Buyer**
**Location** | **Frankfurt Office**
**Hours** | **40hrs per week; 8.00am to 5pm Mon to Thu, 8am to 3pm Friday.**
**Salary** | **Competitive depending on experience**
**Responsible to** | **Purchasing Manager**

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Negotiate the best possible rates for Mechanical & Electrical plant and materials with local suppliers to stay within the budgetary requirement and purchase such materials
- Manage the delivery of M&E materials direct to site in a clear and professional manner by ensuring all items are available when required.
- Work to ensure all supplier invoices are cleared for payment in a timely manner to maintain the high-level of positive supplier relations expected by the company.
- Perform daily, weekly, and monthly checks to ensure all paperwork is up to date, all sites are being efficiently serviced and efficiency remains at the expected high level.
- Build, manage & maintain relationships with local clients, suppliers, contractors & other construction professionals including site operatives.
- Report to the Procurement Manager and company directors as required.
- Work to follow the robust processes/controls already in place to increase efficiency and improve performance.
- Ensure a safe working environment abiding by all necessary H&S requirements and legislation.
- Supplier Vetting on EU contractors and suppliers
- Will be responsible for all EU material purchasing for delivery direct to all site locations
- Ensuring that the all contractors are in line with all planned programme’s of work on each site
- Any other duties required to fulfil the requirements of the position.

**Skills, Knowledge and Expertise**:
**Essential Criteria**
- Previous experience in a construction or M&E environment & demonstrable previous experience of material ordering
- Minimum 3-5 years' experience in a purchasing / materials buyer role.
- Strong experience and excellent working knowledge of M&E materials and components.
- Organized and structured approach to your work.
- Enthusiastic adopter/user of IT systems, with proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent negotiating skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and cope with a varied portfolio of work, progressing with reduced supervision.
- Proven record of delivering quality work on time within budget and with mínimal supervision.
- Previous experience in a procurement role

**Desirable Criteria**
- Management of large scale Mechanical & Electrical material ordering including drawing off materials in batches to meet project programmes.
