Senior Accounting Specialist

**About this role**:

We are one of the largest producers and distributors of biochar in Europe and sell our Carbon Removal Credits to renowned companies worldwide. Several new sites for the production of biochar and regenerative heat are already in planning. To continue this positive momentum, we are looking for a **Senior Accounting Specialist (all genders)**. **This position is crucial for ensuring the financial health and supporting the ambitious growth of Novocarbo through efficient and accurate accounting practices and the implementation of new company systems.

**Following tasks are in focus of your role**:

- ** General Accounting Tasks**:

- Manage all aspects of accounting, including day-to-day operations (invoicing, inter-company transactions, travel expenses, payments, etc.) and transactional oversight within all our accounting tools.
- Manage the month-end and year-end closing process, ensuring accurate reconciliations of accounts.
- Prepare comprehensive financial statements for the entire Novocarbo group, ensuring compliance with all legal reporting requirements.
- ** Financial Reporting & Compliance**:

- Serve as the contact person for external and internal tax matters, including VAT, payroll, and special cases.
- Ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures and ensure financial transactions are recorded in accordance with GAAP and/or other accounting standards applicable (e.g. IFRS)
- Conduct insightful financial analyses, supporting management with financial planning, budgeting, variance reporting, and forecasting activities.
- Prepare monthly financial reports including cash flow statements for multiple legal entities as well as reports to relevant stakeholders, such as shareholders, banks, public funds.
- ** Process Improvement & Collaboration**:

- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams like Sales and Supply Chain Management to ensure financial objectives are aligned and contribute to the overall success of the organization.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of our accounting tools and commercial processes, including the order-to-invoice cycle and expense handling.
- Participate in ad-hoc projects that leverage your finance and controlling skills.

**Your profile**:
**These are your professional qualifications we’d appreciate**:

- Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or a similar role in an international environment
- Relevant degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Studies, or a similar field. A professional accounting certification is a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial modeling; experience with PowerBI is a strong advantage.
- Experience with ERP systems, Dynamics365 and a basic knowledge of DATEV are highly desirable.
- Fluent communication skills in German are mandatory; strong English skills are a plus.
