The Director R&D Innovation (possible locations: Frankfurt or Hassfurt/Germany, USA or in Nastola/Finland or in Getafe/Spain) oversees and steers the innovation pipeline of all R&D teams. He/she supports all teams with state of the art processes and tools to identify customer needs and problem solving technics to build and maintain industry leading product innovations. He/she needs to ensure that there is a strong and continuous alignment/transparency on the innovation roadmap topics together with major stakeholders eg Marketing, Category and Sales. To monitor and ensure progress of the ongoing innovation ideas he/she organizes internal R&D reviews in the pre development phase for the cross functional aligned innovation topics. The agile Pre development phase needs to be implemented based on MVP approach to ensure a fail fast - fail cheap culture. Building out innovation capabilities and transferring them into the corporate culture to impact the broader organization. The position offers also the opportunity to lead a limited amount of innovation projects.

What will you do:
- Leads and manages efficiently the innovation pipeline of Uponor together with all R&D teams.- Implements state of the art processes to identify customer needs and problem solving technics to build a strong costumer centric innovation pipeline on product and industry leading manufacturing processes.- Develops and maintains a 5 year world leading customer centric roadmap for Uponor in alignment with Marketing, Category and Sales for all categories.- Ensures that the organization has a good transparency of current state of the innovation pipeline based on specific KPIs- Develops, manages and leads the pre development stage gate process.- Establishes and maintains relationships with the external scientific community and keeps updated on technological development.- Leads and guides the development teams and their stakeholders to continuously improve the innovation process and supports with training and development initiatives for employees.- Ensures that the innovation pipeline delivers a strong patent portfolio for the organization.

What will you need:
- Bachelor of Science or Engineering from an accredited institution is required. Masters or MBA is preferred.- Eight or more years of experience in Product Development- Ability to lead and manage several development teams- Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.- Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.- Five or more years of experience with using Microsoft Project or equivalent project management software tools is preferred.- Ability to be a persuasive leader who can serve as an effective member of the leadership team and communicate innovation and development topics to a broad range of employees- Good sense for business opportunities
